Re: How do I add a convention to my profile
We'd have to add that on our end for creators to be able to add to their profile. The tool is still in beta, and we're continuing to develop it on our end. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Re: International Payment method
Hi there, it's totally possible to purchase a subscription from outside the US, however the amount in your local currency will vary by the market price. If you use the app store to subscribe, it should update the price into your local currency. Hope this helps.

What are your 2025 creator or publisher goals?
It's that time of year again! What are your goals going into the new year?

Bonus Question: What did you accomplish in 2024 that you're proud of?

I'll go first.

GC related goal - I was able to finally launch a diary I've always wanted to do in 2024. For 2025, I'd like to be more consistent with it and put SOMETHING out each month for it.

Manga/Comic general goal - I was able to finally get published by a publisher (my Onami one-shot with Viz Media). My next goal is to get serialized with a publisher in the next year, and get Volume 1 of my series Godsbane done!

What are your goals? : D

Send me recommendations to read! (GC links)
Hello everyone! I'm always on the hunt for more comics and manga to read, so if you have read something here that you really enjoyed, please drop it below. If you have time, I'd like to see:

1. Title + link
2. Tell me why / what you liked about it.

There is only one rule here: You cannot suggest your own title/ a title you worked on.

You HAVE to submit the work of someone else. I made this thread with the hope that we can uplift and promote the titles we like to read or our friends, rather than promote ourselves. Looking forward to what you share with me! I'm very open-minded in what I read, just about anything goes. I can't promise I'll read everything you suggest, but I'll do my best!

What do you like to do outside making comics?
Was sort of curious what hobbies people have outside making comics or manga!

I like to garden and care for plants.
I also have a cat named Miso that I love to play with.
I'm currently taking Japanese classes once a week as well!

Every now and then (time allowing is the issue) I'll go fishing or hiking.

What about you?

How do you approach character development in your writing, and what do you think makes for a compelling character in a comic?
1. Do you have a method or process for making characters in particular?
2. Are there certain tropes you like or want to include?
3. Are there any you dislike or want to avoid?

Bonus:

I've heard from Hayao Miyazaki to draw "will" even if "fate" exists. Do you think about this at all? I find it really interesting as a lot of western media seems to focus on the "what" of things that happen to a character, rather than focusing on how characters react. Especially their emotional states and inner thoughts seem to be ignored. I like the idea of focusing on the character's will and letting that drive the story and plot development.

The only weird thing about that is you sort of lose control over the story at that point, and it might stray from the resolution you want as a creator. What are your thoughts on writing "will" vs "fate?

What do you struggle with the most about backgrounds and environments?
I'd like to put together some resources for others to be able to use for backgrounds and environments, and I'd like to know what all you all want help with so that I can make an extensive list.

Do you maintain a schedule for creation of your comic? Do you use a buffer?
I've been wondering how common it is that creators actually produce on a specific schedule or as they have free time. Something I've noticed is more successful people tend to be on a consistent schedule or as close as they could be to one, but I wonder if that's due to:

1. intentionally trying for that since the beginning, or
2. having more time to produce in general and choosing to be consistent.

What are your thoughts on this?

Also, do you have a buffer for your series? How far ahead are you? Did you always have one or did it happen over time?

April 20th is Okami day! Did any of you play the game?

It's one of the best games, imho.  How could you not love to see and play gameplay like this?! I really wish there had been a real sequel. So sad that'll never happen. Okamiden was ok, but it didn't have the same energy as Okami.

Have you ever played it? It was re-leased as an HD version for PS3, PS4, and the Switch! So if you haven't played it before, chances are it's still easy to get a copy of!

Re: Announcing the new GlobalComix Reader v2
This is definitely going to open the floor to more creators. Initially what attracted me to GlobalComix was the panel by panel integration, which I don't see anywhere else. Since such a huge portion of readers are mobile these days, including the scrolling/vertical format was definitely a wise choice! The interactive page turning feature is a nice touch as well, I feel a bit of a cosmetic thing. But for readers and creators wanting a classic experience, definitely brings home that feeling. The idea of making panel/frame/page layouts or shapes saveable, like a library would be fantastic! Definitely would save some time for people who do strips or koma based comics and manga where a lot of formats are repeated often. Keep up the great work!
