Re: Announcing Monetized Comics Publishing Beta
Finally! Opportunity has arrived!
Re: What does "ultimate success" mean to you?
People enjoy my comic -> fame/views -> published online and paid -> published prints ->rich ->convention.
For me each each upper stage/milestone is considered higher success.
For me, I don't pick one of these as parameter of success, instead it looks a milestone of achievement of all these parameters. What does it mean to be successful?
Is it fame? Tons of views, likes comments?!Â
Is it fortune and being rich?
Is it possibly just the good feelings you get seeing people enjoy your comic.
Maybe it is being published and printed?Â
Maybe being published ONLINE and paid by a comic site to make your comic?
Having lots of people come to conventions just to meet you and get autographs?

Nice!, I never used discord before, finally I have a reason to use it :D
Re: Release number
Btw the orange button comment was for desktop, I checked the mobile version, the orange button is perfectly placed :)
Re: Release number
For unassuming new reader yes. Also I think the orange button placement need to be closer to the listing or at the top of the listing, so that reader are aware that there is a easy function to continue reading. Tbh I actually missed the orange button when I was here the first time, I thought it was a follow/subscribe button lol.
Re: Release number
I experience similar experience on tapas because clicking thumbnail brings me to the latest chapter, not the first one. It actually caused accidental spoiler. So the actual intention of this thread is "how not to give accidental spoilers".
Actually it's not something that I need, it is more towards the presentation to new readers. Instinctually newcomer will click the top listing assuming it is chapter 1, but as of now it is the latest chapter. The orange button is there but instinctually they will click the top most listing first. For example like my comic,I think it should be displayed as "#1 Introduction" instead of just "introduction".I can sort it to always return the highest release #, but I'm not sure if this captures your needs?Â

Release number
@Nimloth
I find it confusing when I visited a release page with multiple releases, I don't know which comes first. I think it is best to show the release number before the title like #1, #2 and so on. Also, I think it is critical to have ability to sort by latest and by #release_number.
I noticed the resume button is useful, but I imagined if someone mistakenly clicked the wrong release, the button will show #number they recently clicked on, this way it will become a chore for them to try and find back where they left off.

Re: Creator mode - edit frame - edit edge
@Nimloth I would like to request the trigger area for the line between the points, because it is a bit hard to click on the lines, it was like trying to click on 1 pixel on the screen. I think widen it by 3-5 times would be great.
"Shift" key bug
@Nimloth @Lexflex
Bug 1:
Text disappeared for a moment until the page is clicked again. The currently edited text will reset when "shift" is pressed.
How to reproduce: simply press shift when typing in the text frame. Example from my experience, happens everytime I tried to insert exclamation mark (!).
Bug 2:
Text does not resize reliably for some text frame.
How to reproduce: Not exactly sure how to reproduce because it happens randomly. However I still have one of the buggy text frame on my comic. Link, text [HAHA!] on the 1st frame of the page has this problem, might worth to see on backend if any error is logged. Console doesn't seems to report any error on my end. Apparently there's a noticeable faint grey highlight behind the text for the text frame with this problem.

Re: Text frame
Nice thanks!
Re: More genre options
This is critical because once the site gets critical number like Tapas and Webtoon, searching became a chore, I always hate the experience in Tapas and Webtoon for not be able to narrow down comics in a much more filtered way.
I can't speak for LGBT community because I'm straight but I would like to disagree because I've seen that people in tapas forum complained about GL being drowned by BL by sheer number. So I think it is still best separate them so that reader who has specific preference will have an easier time finding what they are looking for without having to browse for a long time to find anything they like. I think the way to go is to make the site more towards reading activity and less searching. As an LGBT reader and creator I also beg that you don't make separate "BL" and "GL" categories, these are usually associated with super fetishised content and it's way more appropriate to simply make a "LGBT" category for people who want to read queer fiction.

Text frame
@Nimloth, a quick question, let say in the future when translating function is in place, would it be smarter if I define my dialogue using the editor text frame as opposed to hard text embedded in the image? What is the primary intention of providing the text frame feature?
If it somehow will make it easier for translation, I'm thinking of using it right away. Please advise.

Re: More genre options
Credit to my Japanese friend, Tomo-kun who actually told me about shounen, shoujo, seinen and josei not being a genre. It was actually magazine category which compiles manga relevant to each age group.
Nice! I'm glad the message went through and hopefully misconception towards the genre finally cleared in coming future. This is actually a pretty great setup. Let me ponder it a bit more and see what I can add / do with it :)

Re: More genre options
I think the genre and categorization is becoming a bit a pain to define any comic because the objective is kind of getting off.
I think since globalcomix is launching soon it is best for the site to take initiative to make this right right off the bat.
Lets do this objectively:
Genre: This should define the major setting of the story, comic/manga may only appear in one of the Genre.
Action: Fiction of Fighting and battle as main premise.
Adventure: Fiction of Discovery and travelling as main premise.
Fantasy: Fiction of Unreal world or imaginary world as main premise.
Slice of Life: Fiction of Real world as main premise
Historical: Recreation or fiction based on real world events or historical record
Romance: Fiction of character with intimate/detail relationship as main premise.
Biography: Actual story of character with intimate/detail relationship as main premise.
Comedy: Fiction of mischievous story line with imaginary character as main premise.
Satire: Comedy that may connected to real world character, without intention of offending the actual people/entity.
Abstract: Story in a form of ambiguous story and character.
Horror: Fiction which uses some form of fear factor and bizarre occurence as main premise.
Thriller: Fiction which uses some form of problem solving of conflicts
Sports: Fiction revolves around actual or imaginary sports.
Subgenre: This should define the secondary and tertiary major plot of the story, this is only to further define the genre of the story or some sees it as TAG. This should be an advance filter only, appear only when a user already selected a Genre filter. One comic should not have more than 2 of these tag.
Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Slice of life .... Sports (13 genre above) AND:
Yaoi (BL): Boy's and Men's love. Simply defined as male homosexual.
Yuri (GL): Girls's and Women's love. Simply defined as female homosexual.
Bizarre: Unthinkable events.
Political: Involves conflict of ideologies between character
Smut: depiction of intimate sexual act
Ecchi: depiction of light sexual act and tease
Musical: Setting
School: Setting
Profession: Setting
Mature: may contain controversial content.
Audience: Target audience which the story target for.
Kodomomuke: Family and young child. Strictly safe and happy content only.
Shounen: Young Male (Teen)
Shoujo: Young Female (Teen)
Seinen: Adult Male (18+)
Josei: Adult Female (18+)
LGBT: Adult LGBT (18+)
Type:
Comic: Story telling through image expression in westernized style.
Manga/Manhwa: Story telling through image expression in easternized style.
Graphic Novel: Story telling through image expression and detailed texts.
Example of applying these attributes:
Rurouni Kenshin:
Genre: Adventure
Subgenre: Action, Historical
Audience: Shounen
Type: Manga/Manhwa
Injustice: Gods among us
Genre: Action
Subgenre: Fantasy, Political
Audience: Seinen
Type: Comic
NANA
Genre: Slice of Life
Subgenre: Romance, musical
Audience: Josei
Type: Manga/Manhwa
Death Note
Genre: Thriller
Subgenre: Political, Adventure
Audience: Seinen
Type: Manga/Manhwa
@Nimloth I believe this is a good way to give authors a perfect way to define their works and also will be very easy for readers to find what they want. I believe one of the major gripe in LWebtoon is, it is extremely hard to narrow down the genre of comic you like. Since there will be no favoritism towards a genre in this site I think it benefit all parties in a good way.
Btw: I think the formatting is broken, I can't seem to use the list function/format properly.
