What are your 2022 goals? - GC Forums
community
Well. I'm currently working on finishing Chapter Five of my Sci Fi series - FLUX. I'm a bit behind on releasing this issue, should have been out before the new year, but that is my immediate goal.
After that, I'm hoping to be able to take the first five chapters and release them in my first trade paperback graphic novel. This will be very much dependent on budget!
Then, after that, make a start on Chapter Six, as well as possibly make a start on a new fantasy series I've been planning. Also work on a novel I've been writing between other things.
Then, maybe try and become a super successful comic creator to the point of being able to quit the day job and make a living doing something I love, rather than something I have to. But that's been a goal for the last four years... what can I say, I'm a dreamer!
Also, maybe try and get some new subs for my Patreon.
@aclarke
It's certainly frustrating to run behind isn't it? I'm just trying to make my buffer and I feel behind too. : /
Oh heck yeah! That's true, that's definitely enough for a whole Graphic novel. How exciting! Are you going to crowdfund it? Remember that you can attach any crowdfunding campaign to your comic series in the settings for that series! We love to promote our comics and manga that are crowdfunding, the more eyes the better, you know?
That's very ambitious! I can't imagine having two series running at the same time. Maybe if comics was the only thing I had to do for work! haha I'd miss my Community Role here though.
Good luck with all your goals! It's a lot of work, but step by step, baby steps if we have to, we can accomplish anything!
@btaylor
Did you want some feedback or help on how to make the comic better so that it can have better chances to succeed?
As far as getting people to see it, one of the best ways is plain old fashioned hard core self promotion. Some of the ways that I have found that worked for me is to be very active in specific reddit servers that like the sort of stuff that I make. Genuinely be active and make friends there. They like what I like. When I do get the chance to share my stuff, I get great results and people will click the link to read it.
I also have YouTube channel where I stream or record myself drawing. I have my comic linked on my profile and in every stream. I get a lot of reads from YouTube too.
I also joined a lot of comic and manga ( I make manga specifically) discord servers, and I can meet other creators and make friends. Same as before, when I share my work, because I have people there who trust me and are my friends, we support each other and they read it. They also give me feedback on how to be better!
The same methods might help you, but each person is different. Self marketing is a lot of hard work, so if you want it to succeed, I would right down a plan for things you want to try. Then actually do those things and record the results! GlobalComix has an analytics page that tells you what links or websites people came to GlobalComix from! That way you can track what is working and what doesn't.
That's my advice to you.
Let's see... they're all related to GC so I guess I've gotta be a bit careful to not let the cat out of the bag too early, but...
Launch GlobalComix Native Mobile Applications is a big one.
Actually take a vacation of my own choosing? That would be the first in like 3-4 years :O
Most importantly - hit some significant milestones with creator and reader adoption of GC :)
@Christopher Omg a vacation more than a few days would be amazing. I'm trying to hold out until Japan opens again or I might look into going to Washington State to see all those old growth forests.. Maybe Iceland to see all those pretty landscapes, maybe Scotland to see the Highlands.
NGL, also wanna go to Bali and Java to see the landscapes there since they are what is influencing my Ghost Child islands, so I could gather lots of references! Definitely looking forward to the App and some other stuff that shall not be named. LOL
@melanie5662 Do you have themes or genres you prefer? I'm sure I can offer you some suggestions!
Great news for you if you are open and willing to try just about anything, is that we have entire lists of featured comics, most of them being top performers here consistently. My suggestion would be to start here with our top comics and manga of 2021 which you can find here: https://globalcomix.com/news/details/234/most-popular-of-globalcomix-best-of-the-best-2021. There's 24 comics and manga on this list, and it's a wide mix of genres too!
You can also check out our Featured Comics page here: https://globalcomix.com/news/featured-comics/
We regularly feature comics, typically Monday and Thursday, so we are always on the hunt for comics and manga that are doing well and feature them!
I'm wanting to at least get done with the first arc or almost done with the first arc by the end of the year for my webcomic:

@daisam Good luck with it! How far along is your arc now?
@Rapphirica haha oh noooo How does one even go about looking for VAs?
@SFE Bureaucracy sucks! Good luck with all that! I usually spend holidays drawing, so I know the feel.
@arkawidya Haha sure, I'm not sure when I could travel, I gotta build my savings back up again. lol Probably late 2023 or 2024
@ArtCrumbs it's probably a quarter of the way started. So still a way to go, but as long as I focus I could make it to the end of the year. The focus is my issue...
As anyone who's done this long enough knows, your goals can change often and quickly. Right now my MAIN concerns are...
1) Plant my flag and get a solid following here.
2) Finish vol. 2 of the Necroblivion trade
3) Finish and publish the Necroblivion Halloween story.
4) Further develop (and maybe publish) a new IP I'm working on.
