After last year's fully virtual event, New York Comic Con is returning to in-person programming and a full roster of outstanding creative talents. Headed to the show this year? Here are 10 Creators You Must See At NYCC! 

 

Jamal Igle

 

One of the exceptionally talented creators behind Resilience, Jamal’s detailed pencils have graced books as varied as The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglas, the all ages action miniseries "Race Against Time" as well as mainstream hits such as G.I.Joe, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Green Lantern. Jamal has served as the series artist for Firestorm the Nuclear Man, Nightwing and Tangent: Superman's Reign, Superman, Supergirl and Zatanna for DC Comics, Noble Causes for Image Comics and a four issue run on New Warriors for Marvel Comics. He is currently hard at work on WRONG EARTH for Ahoy Comics and Micro-Face for NPR’s Planet Money. 

 

Stephanie Phillips

 

Stephanie Phillips is an American writer known for comics and graphic novels such as HARLEY QUINN, BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT, SENSATIONAL WONDER WOMAN, SUPERMAN, TAARNA, and THE BUTCHER OF PARIS. Her stories and comics have appeared with DC Comics, AfterShock Comics, Dark Horse, Oni Press, Top Cow/Image Comics, Heavy Metal, Black Mask Studios, A Wave Blue World, and more. Stephanie is currently the writer for the ongoing Harley Quinn series at DC Comics with artist Riley Rossmo. 

 

Kelly McKernan

 

An independent creator since 2009, Kelly McKernan is an artist and illustrator specializing in imaginative realism and pop culture watercolor paintings focusing on the female form, childhood trauma, religious cults, and toxic marriages. Her work can currently be seen in Evanescence's ECHOES FROM THE VOID.

 

Henry Barajas

 

A Latinx author from Tucson, Henry Barajas is best known for his graphic memoir about his great-grandfather Ramon Jaurigue titled La Voz De M.A.Y.O. Tata Rambo—and Latinx Fantasy: Helm Greycastle. He has contributed to anthologies such as Where We Live and The Good Fight. Barajas wrote the Marvel & SOMOS Healthcare AVENGERS #1 issue aimed to inspire the people of New York City to get vaccinated; particularly, the Latinx community that was disproportionately impacted by COVID.

 

Cara McGee

 

Cara McGee is an critically-acclaimed comic artist and illustrator, who lives in the woods. She has worked on Dodge City (with Josh Trujillo) and Over the Garden Wall. In 2019, she illustrated Black Canary: Ignite which was written by Meg Cabot.

 

Fabian Nicieza

 

A writer for over 30 years, Fabian's well-reviewed debut novel SUBURBAN DICKS is on sale now from G.P. Putnam's Sons. In the comic book industry, he is best known as the co-creator of Deadpool and the writer of over a thousand comics, including X-Men, New Warriors, Cable & Deadpool, Thunderbolts, Red Robin and most recently, Juggernaut and X-Men Legends for Marvel. 

 

Frank Tieri

 

One of the exceptional talents behind the Resilience anthology, Frank Tieri is an award-winning writer and creator working in comics, video games, animation and television. Tieri has worked on some of the biggest franchises in the industry including WOLVERINE, X-MEN, DEADPOOL,SPIDER-MAN, IRON MAN, HULK, PUNISHER, CAPTAIN AMERICA & AVENGERS for MARVEL, BATMAN, HARLEY QUINN, JLA, CATWOMAN, SUICIDE SQUAD, HAWKMAN & JSA for DC, RED SONJA for DYNAMITE, JUGHEAD: THE HUNGER & THE HANGMAN for ARCHIE.

 

Sara Richard

 

An Eisner and Ringo Award-nominated artist living in New Hampshire, Sara Richard is inspired by art styles of the past including, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Victorian ink illustrations she creates her own art by infusing movement and atmosphere into even the most static of subjects, creating artwork that breathes and connects to the viewer. Sara’s interest in the macabre brings her to creating art that balances between sweet and spooky. She collects antique funerary artifacts and preserves them when she’s not out volunteering her time to clean neglected gravestones in old New Hampshire burial grounds. With a deep appreciation of history, Sara likes to highlight her notable ancestors including Eleanor of Aquitaine and Margaret Scott, a victim of the Salem Witch Trials.

 

Gideon Kendall

 

Gideon Kendall is an Eisner Award winning artist who has created books, illustrations, comics and animation for many clients including: MAD Magazine, Penguin/Putnam, Disney, Comixology/Kitchen Sink, IDW, Dark Horse, Cartoon Network, Madison Square Garden, Citibank, Scholastic and The New York Times.

 

Joe Harris

 

From Suneater to Slingers, Joe Harris is the acclaimed writer of numerous comics, graphic novels & movies mixing horror with tales of super-heroes and the supernatural. A horror screenwriter and filmmaker, Harris conceived and co-wrote Darkness Falls for Sony Pictures, along with the farcical political slasher movie, The Tripper for FOX. In 2018, he co-wrote the live-action web series, Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe for Valiant Entertainment. His next project is Helloween’s SEEKERS OF THE SEVEN KEYS from Opus Publishing.
