BHP Comics tells us, ‘Be BOLD!’ Their stories and thrilling artwork deliver on that promise. We are delighted to share some of the UK’s finest comics with our readers, and find ourselves captivated by their catalogue.

While their work spans the gamut in terms of dark and edgy with titles like Maximum Alan, and perhaps preoccupied with the end of the world with many titles focused on post-apocalypse (notably Tomorrow), they also have work for younger folks in titles like Plagued: The Miranda Chronicles.

SciFiChick has a spotlight today on Mad Cave Studios, and we wanted to add to that selection of stories by putting together our own list. Think of it as extended reading to get the week started. We've picked out a variety of themes and settings, from stories grounded on Earth, to private detectives travelling the stars.

When growing up, there were a few things that I considered hobbies. Collecting comic books and baseball cards were two of them, playing baseball and basketball another pair, and then there was watching wrestling. My friends and I made a ritual of watching WCW and WWE (they were known as WWF back then) every time it was on TV. One of my favorites was none other than Al Snow. He was a little bit of crazy coupled with a batch of hilarious, and was a pretty good wrestler to boot.

Over the past 18 months or so, we’ve interfaced with many of the industry’s best and up-and-coming creators and publishers. In doing so, we have learned the most common reservations and misconceptions about digital publishing in general, as well as specific to GlobalComix. And we know more broadly that the digital world can feel like a puzzle within western comics.

With all of that in mind, we’ve compiled an informal FAQ-style breakdown here for anyone thinking about publishing with GlobalComix, but who still need a more information.

Since we recently rolled out our new reading experience, we thought it was a good time to also utilize our new popularity algorithm to share some of the most popular comics over the past year. It's no surprise that these stories also have some of the most views on GlobalComix in that timeframe, but that's not the only thing the algorithm looks at. Whether these comics are completely new to you, or something you've already enjoyed in the past, it's a great time to give them a read.

We believe that when you read a digital comic book, it should feel good no matter the device that you’re using. It should capture that same experience as if you had the comic right there in your hands, flipping from page to page while engrossed in an incredible story. We’ve taken a hard look at our default and vertical reader and decided that it was time not just for an update, but a complete overhaul -- rebuilding it entirely from scratch.

We're going to kick this month off right by taking a look at some of the comics running crowdfunding campaigns. We've featured some of them in the past, but there are two new entries as well. We highly recommend checking out all four of the campaigns -- they're all great stories created by even greater teams.
