@Snyderman: We'll do our best to get them back as soon as possible. They changed digital distributors so that's the reason.

I was thinking, will Marvel books go in cycles like DC or will their gold books be here always?

Holy Moses, this is huge news! I thought they are betting their digital library on Webtoon. But jumping onto here they are double dipping to find their audience. I’m happy they are doing business with you guys!

@samzzatw: great question: we will be adding new Marvel books every quarter to the launch package, and we will have some refresh in the catalog on a yearly basis. the subscription offering is to offer a competitive 'best of' that's mostly consistent, with some some books potentially rotating in/out each year - we'll announce any changes with enough notice, though.

@EricTapper: Boom made up probably more than half of my Read Later, and about half of my currently reading was Boom, and now I can't even see what those titles were, a big problem for my Read Later because most of that was just added because the ad at the end of another comic looked cool, and I can't see the issue numbers I was up to for the ones I was reading.

I guess getting Marvel is good for people who weren't already subscribed to Marvel Unlimited, and if anything included on Gold is on my list I might read it here because the app is generally better. For me, though, Gold means now I'm getting some of what I already pay for on MU, a whole dollar off Kodansha, fifty cents off DC, some Image, and some Dark Horse (with the privilege of being able to pay for more).

I just feel like my Gold subscription is getting me less and less, and without Boom, that's 50% of the reason I'm subscribed gone. And if you're negotiating with a new digital distributor, now I guess I've got to be prepared for Boom to come back with the same model as Marvel and DC, with a rotating library and a small discount on individual issues.

You’ve finally done it. You’ve finally become THE comic app 😭🔥

The "à la carte" proposal is understandable for publishers that have proprietary apps for reading their entire catalog. Choices such as those offered by Dark Horse are much less so. I subscribed to Gold to read Image, Oni, Boom, and IDW comics. If Globalcomix decides to move toward offers outside of the subscription, I will obviously not renew.

Hopefully we'll get some decent titles for no exrtra pay in Gold. :)

It would be great if you could find a way to link my globalcomix account to my marvel, dc and viz subscriptions so that I could read everything in your app instead of using multiple apps.

@Snyderman: does anyone know where to get boom comics now?

HoardingCommander

HoardingCommander 6 days ago

my concern is that, like DC Infinite, there will be at some point multiple tears, with the "top tier" being essentially what Gold is now, but rather than the current price point, will go up $30-$40 dollars. Is that in the horizon?

@FortifyingSturdyNomad: In print, at your local comic shop, I guess, unless you're familiar with unsanctioned maritime pursuits.
