so how long do we need to wait for DC’s singles to hit the gold membership?
ArcanePoltergeist 1 week ago
I doubt anyone will read this, but hopefully the Batman shadow crossover from the 70s gets put on here because a lot of collections ignore that one for some reason.

Will the books featured in the Batman Day Celebration be free with Gold?
BlazingMagentaOgre775 1 week ago
will you include the Amalgam or DC vs. Marvel crossover comics?

Great that we're getting more comics, but I've got to say, as a gold member who joined when there was nothing that wasn't included, I'm not a fan of "exclusive discounts" on legacy comics. I was fine paying for earlier access to stuff that would probably come to Gold later anyway, but paying extra for issues from past decades just isn't something I'll be doing. I'm paid up for a year, but I'm thinking very seriously about whether I'll re-up next year.

Depending on how much the discount is, Global comix could seriously become my default comic reading platform. I don't mind having gold for a library of rotating titles and anything else I'd want or anything I want permanently, including new comics, for cheaper than I could anywhere else. This is especially nice because I won't have to also get a DC infinite sub. That said, I do think DC would be wise to make their legacy titles more freely and consistently just available in the gold membership. Like they wouldn't lose much money realistically and it'd probably really help get new readers interested in new releases.

@TwirlingNickelPaladin: Not expanding the free with gold libary would be dumb, it attracts people to buy other comics and merch.

@ComprehendingSneakyInstructor: I can't share exact details, but there will be some overlap with content on the membership that is in the sale.
Kevin admin supporter 1 week ago
@ArcanePoltergeist: I can't confirm yet, but I'll let you know!
Kevin admin supporter 1 week ago
@Chariejfg: DC rotates books on the membership every 3 months, but they usually reserve trades and collected editions for subscription services. Once a series has reached the point that it is available as a volume, it should become eligible for the membership -- but that is up to DC on when they include it.

I am very excited for this as the availability of dc books digitally is quite bad. I do hope DC makes more of their books available on gold membership as well and I hope the a la carte books are not priced like physical books are.

@BlazingMagentaOgre775: I can't confirm yet, but I'll let you know. It's a pretty significant part of DC's overall historical catalog. For crossovers, it does depend on who published it. If it's from DC, there's a pretty good chance we'll have it. If Marvel was the one that published it, it won't be part of this content launch.
Kevin admin supporter 1 week ago
@TwirlingNickelPaladin: This is great feedback that I will share with our team so we can discuss the balance of content on Gold vs a la carte. We won't have new books entering the membership on the 17th, but we will have the regular DC rotation coming up for Q4.

@NoobixCube: Thank you for the honest feedback. While this is a feature that some publishers required for parts of their catalog to become available on GlobalComix, Gold is still our primary focus. We will continue to push for books to be included with the membership wherever possible.
TwirlingNickelPaladin 1 week ago
@Kevin: That's great to hear. Yeah as a consumer it's the benefits of the gold membership that really influences my decision to use Global Comix as a primary digital reading platform. Am I getting enough value from the subscription library? Is the discount on new books and books unavailable on the library large enough for me to justify buying on this platform instead of physically or anywhere else? I also have to weigh this with how much I trust Global Comix as a digital platform that will last and where my library will be safe.

Please tell me I’ll be able to download an offline PDF of these titles. I really want to actually own a copy of my favorite comics digitally. If I can buy PDFs for DC comics here, you guys will be getting a LOT of my money.

What about Wildstorm's books? Gears Of War and MW2: Ghost were good shit. They both deserve more love.
RushingVariableBard 6 days ago
@RushingVariableBard: And for the record, yes, DC itself picked up where Wildstorm left off.

great news for DC, I was wondering if the DC catalog was available to Gold Membership for free or you have make additional purchase? and, how long will the new releases be made availbe free for Gold Membership?
GreenLantern96 5 days ago
just in time can't wait hopefully we get old batman comics from the 90s and more green lantern too

@Goufball: I’m right there with you. I already got burned buying a bunch of books on that other platform before they were absorbed and effectively dissolved. all that money wasted, I’d feel much more secure making a purchase if I knew I could keep it no matter what.

Though I am glad to see an expanded library, I can't help but feel that us Gold users are being left in the dust. All of this a la carte is starting to hurt my soul and make the Gold membership feel weaker. I truly hope the "Included with Gold" catalog gets more attention soon. To be clear - this is still my favorite comic app. I'm just worried about the direction it's headed in.
ComprehendingSneakyInstructor 2 days ago
It's on. Prices are more than dissappointing. Are they trying to force us to buy trades?
samzzatw 2 days ago
what is up with issues costing 6€ but being ""discounted"" for 5€, just so gold members get absolutely no benefit
samzzatw 2 days ago
@ComprehendingSneakyInstructor: Have to agree
ComprehendingSneakyInstructor 2 days ago
@samzzatw: There's no way I'm going to spend 20+ Euros on digital collections. With an existing gold membership. Ridiculous. I hope this is gonna flop.

Great news! The only problem at the moment seems to be that although the DC catalogues is now showing on Global, it is not yet possible to identify from the listing whether the books are on the Gold subscription list or for purchase only. Hopefully this can be addressed soon.
I hope that the next step for Global will be to offer an "Enhanced Gold" subscription service at a higher price which also includes the DCUI content, given the DCUI is still not widely available except in a few territories, and of course not at all for desktop readers outside the USA.
I am very pleased with the recent Global developments (also the inclusion of Archie) as it is the best digital platform for comics presently available.

I am waiting october 1. Hopefully we'll get some decent titles.

@NoobixCube: I feel the same. Not a fan of "exclusive discounts" as a Gold member. That said, it's on DC side to decide. It's complicated because they also have a subscription app and probably they want to avoid overlapping with their app. Also, distribution deals are always complicated.
I want to believe GC would want to have more content for Gold members and they'd be happy to include all those if DC accepted.

The sale prices are mostly good tho. Hopefully we can have sales fairly often
ComprehendingSneakyInstructor 1 day ago
@samzzatw: How is this good, lol. You can buy print for these prices.
samzzatw 1 day ago
@samzzatw: Nevermind, it seems to be on android for 6€ but on pc the base price is 5€. I guess because of the Google fee.
samzzatw 1 day ago
@ComprehendingSneakyInstructor: 'sale' prices. There is a 'sale' going on in which the prices have been lowered. If you are seeing incorrect pricing on the sale items, updating the app worked for me.
ComprehendingSneakyInstructor 1 day ago
@samzzatw: That actually helped, now it's more reasonable.
