At launch, all Kodansha books will only be available à la carte, with GlobalComix Gold members receiving exclusive discounts on every purchase.

thanks for the news! Would it be possible to clarify on a few things. Will any/some of the Kodansha books be included in the GC Gold Subscription, or will they all only be accessible at a reduced price for Gold members? Also, will the books be downloadable (i.e. DRM-free) after purchase?

A la carte is a huge disappointment, but sadly not surprising for Kondansha. I do not understand why Kondansha insists on remaining #2 to Viz/Jump.

@RunningFleetingPrinter: Considering that the Dark Horse books are not drm free and that Kodansha does not offer drm free on other platforms, I would say that they are very likely not drm free

@RunningFleetingPrinter: At this time, the books will be exclusive to a la carte (and will not be DRM-free). We will make sure to announce if that changes.

It kinda sucks that it's only a la carte and not free in the gold subscription. It would be cool of it was.
