Color Vs. B & W
What are your thoughts on color comics vs. black and white? My comic has both black and white in chapter 1 and color starting in chapter 2. I grew up reading Frank Miller and fell in love with black and white comics so I always envisioned my comic in black and white, but now that my life long buddy is putting excellent color to it, I have changed my mind and I think the color pages are much better. Just curious what the consensus is amongst the community.
I think both color and B&W have their place in the comic world. I agree Frank Miller's work is just perfect in B&W and really gives his worlds a feeling a depth and foreboding. Same thing for the original Ninja Turtle books.
I personally like doing color for my book since I try to get a more anime aesthetic. I have tried B&W only and it never felt right for my style of art, but to each their own. Plus coloring is fun :).
Color is amazing, but the line work and detail on B&W work is unmatched. The ability some artists have to indicate tone and texture with ink is amazing and I’ll always love a goo monochrome comic. Color kind of allows you to take it easy on the line quality without sacrificing too much quality since you can make up for it with great colors. They both have some strengths.
