I have a problem with the subreddit /comics
I can't copy and past things because I was so offended that I deleted my post along with the comment and left that subreddit, but basically, this is what happened and for some context, longform comics don't become popular to begin with in the /comics though they are still welcomed....It is not uncommon for me to get downvoted, but this redditor tells me to post chapters individual pages with no context. Excuse me, but us longform comic writers post individual pages as a marketing ploy and it's (supposed to be) allowed in the the subreddit /comics just as long as you're not spamming. You see the page, it makes you interested and follow its trail to the site where the webcomic is for you to read from the beginning.
Am I wrong to feel offended and for leaving a subreddit that never welcomed me? My work was always downvoted to 0 like clockwork and then I get a comment like that? If I sound angry, it's because I am.I can't copy and past things because I was so offended that I deleted my post along with the comment and left that subreddit, but basically, this is what happened and for some context, longform comics don't become popular to begin with in the /comics though they are still welcomed....

r/comics is a finicky subreddit to be completely honest. I usually have success when promoting other's comics more than my own, but I also make a manga lol So I'm not entirely surprised. There are some subreddits that are incredibly picky, and some that are super chill. It's similar to Twitter or tumblr where you'll find pockets of stick-in-the-mudds about their topic or space, and you can just avoid those.
IMHO Reddit has been critical for my self-promotion, but it's taken some time to filter out the places that work best for me, and places I should avoid. I also vary up the type of posts I make. Sometimes I'm just sharing pages, sometimes I'm sharing character art, or WIPS and asking for feedback. Just posting a link and asking for reads (which I see some people do) is generally frowned upon. So subtlety can really help!
I see. I'll figure it out. Thanks, @ArtCrumbs.
