how to get money on your free comic

hello, mousyLou here with another mousy tip.  I got a trick for those interested in getting some money from their comic while still keeping it free. it's not a guarantee that it will work for everyone but you will never know if you don't try it.

here is how it goes:

1- For this to work you are going to need a buffer ( pages not published yet) from your comic. like a chapter or something similar. my chapters are around 10 to 15 pages each.

2- you are going to have to make your comic a paid one ( hold on!!! you will understand at the end) you can do so by going to your comic setting and click Edit licensing then go to settings and check paid

make sure that your issues are entirely locked or else people may be capable to see some of your buffers for free.

3- think of a schedule for your publishing. to make it work to its fullest, it is good to have one. the period is up to you and what you can do. you need to calculate how long it will take you to make another buffer and how long your present buffer will last. With my full-time job, I can't schedule each week but I can do bi-weekly thanks to my buffer which leaves me till May to come up with a new one.

Once you have decided, schedule each page individually. Make sure that when you create a new release you check the button ALWAYS FREE

this will make your issue free to all when published ( see I told you to wait!) do this to all your scheduled pages

don't forget to add them to the ones published or they will become locked to the public!!!!!

4- create a new issue explaining that they are up to date and your comic schedule so people don't think that your comic has become a paid one and look elsewhere.

Place it at the end of your scheduled issues so it will always show after the last release.

5- now create another issue with the whole buffer (chapter) and publish. because your comic is a paid one only people that are subscribers or paid the digital copy can have access to it (cool right). it's like a webtoon/tapastic unlock system but for a bigger piece of the pie ^^

how do you set the price for your chapter? that is easy.  Go to your page setting in the pricing section.

then set a price to your buffer. you can also add some to your other chapter ^^ for more chances to get money.

I put them at 2$ or less. no need to make them expensive, they are free after all. what matters is the buffer price. this section doesn't work for vertical comics but you still can get some money from subscribers.

As a plus, you can add the donation feature to your account. people can also offer money for your hard work. all you have to do is go to your page setting, go to the donation setting and check it.

make sure that you disable the superfan feature or else the issue will get free after 14 days. it will be in your donation setting.

well, I think that's pretty much it. I hope that you liked my mousy tip. for this to work better you need to get a good flow of readers. Which is why promoting is VERY important believe me.

here an example of the mousy tip

what! you don't know where to promote! have you tried Reddit yet? here is another mousy tip for those interested to get more views PSSSTTT over here

Great stuff! Thank you for sharing!!! The things you can do with GC are fabulous ✨

I currently have mine set so that my latest release is available to Superfans or GcGold, but all previous issues are free. I make a little from this ☺️ my comic is vertical scroll - I really need to get in with converting episodes to page format ready for print on demand, and to utilize the PDF feature!!!

I have a question though say if you put a price on one of your chapters do you know if the global comix websites charges any fees or if they get a certain percent of your money each time you are paid

cmc posted Apr 29, 2023

@Zamnmamas Of course. They have to pay for servers and overhead so all funds are subject to a small fee.

Zamnmamas posted Apr 29, 2023

@cmc and do you know the fee amount?

ArtCrumbs admin posted Apr 30, 2023

@Zamnmamas There are a few different ways to earn income on GlobalComix and the amount taken depends on it is earned.
Donations = You keep 92%
PDF Sales and Paid page reads= You keep 65%

just checking if i got this right: by setting your comic to "paid," people have to pay to read it. so to read the "act 19 - a taste of blood" comic, people have to pay. but by setting individual releases of "a taste of blood" always free, other people can read them for free once they're published. if they want to read the entire taste of blood act earlier than each individual release, they can pay to do so. am i right?

mousylou posted Jul 20, 2023

@Tofutush
Exactly. You create a chapter version that is paid on one hand and the on the other you release a free page of that chapter on a schedule.

If people don't want to wait they can pay to see all of the chapter if not they can have access to a page per schedule for free.
