Eisner Award-nominated writer KELLY SUE DeCONNICK (PRETTY DEADLY, Captain Marvel) and VALENTINE DE LANDRO (X-Factor) present the premiere volume of BITCH PLANET, their critically acclaimed and deliciously vicious sci-fi satire. Think Margaret Atwood meets Inglourious Basterds. A few years down the road in the wrong direction, a woman's failure to comply with her patriarchal overlords results in exile to the meanest penal planet in the galaxy. But what happened on Earth that this new world order came to pass in the first place?

Kind of the stuff of my nightmares, not gonna lie, but it's interesting to see the women kicking ass, taking names and fighting back! Gritty, snappy, snarky, and bitchy, I love seeing all the different types of women. Each one has their own struggles, but it's nice to see them working together to overcome their injustices, though that first chapter was tragic. Have to wonder what other inspiring women I'll get to meet?

A series of short stories within interconnected worlds. They make you stop and think about larger concepts. Paneling, coloring, choices of composition and subject matter, it's rich and at times metaphorical. I saw this and adored the cover, immediately interested, and I had to know what this was about. A whimsical yet... grounded and solid art style adds a lot to the work as well. I'm definitely looking forward to more installations!

In a dystopian future, the entertainment industry has been destroyed, leaving only gladiatorial fights fought by unwilling competitors, controlled by special collars that allow their masters to dictate their every move.

The nostalgic feel of this manga is so intoxicating! The style definitely brings be back to other time, and I really appreciated seeing the growth over the first few chapters. As for the story, the first chapter does great setting the tone and "world rules" for the story. Second builds on that, and it's easy to follow along. Good action and distinct character designs. With 7 chapters, I have some reading to do!
E-GOR, 79 pages - Published by GarzaGoose Comics, (cc/ @GarzaGoose-Comics)
There are two types of Igors in this world. Those who toil and those who defy reality. In this dark quest, two unlikely friends pursue their freedom, no matter the cost. One day, a mysterious guide reveals the truth to them – a path to escape the clutches of their hellish environment and enter reality. Truths will be revealed, foes overcome, but can the Igors escape the darkness that consumes them?

Incredibly creative world-building and use of positive/negative space. The locations and other surroundings are often not bright and vibrant due to where these machines and Igors live, but it's handled extremely well with its limitations. I love the ingenious use of the vertical scroll format multiple times throughout the series. The almanac explaining the types of Igor is also very helpful and well thought-out. Marvelous work!
