Who wouldn't want a magical transforming skateboard?! Wayfarer is a comic I've been following for years at this point, and I'm so glad to see it on GlobalComix so that I can share it with all of you! Amia, a traveling girl with some magical companions. She's got some secrets too, and time will reveal them! Creative and unusual paneling always makes this a fun read, and I can't wait to enjoy re-reading it again! The call of adventure runs deep with this one!
Hush Ronin, 121 pages - Published by Band of Bards Comics, (cc/ @BandofBards)
Orphaned by the increasingly violent clan wars that have been instigated by the treacherous and mysterious Red Lady, young Minagawa Shoji flees home, lost and alone, into the mountains above his scorched village. There he finds and befriends a teacher; a mysterious old man who teaches him to speak with the Voice of the Mountains. Years later, returning from his voluntary exile, Shoji finds his world more war torn than ever.

Reminiscent of a manga, this is one of those Graphic novels that straddles the border between the two mediums. I love a good black and white with spot color, always a favorite. Things get tough for Shoji, and the fiery embers of revenge simmer for years. I've read through only the first one so far, and I'm curious to see where #2 will take us with that stunning reveal! It's a neat story as it has its base in reality and history, but it clearly a fictional story.
The call of sweet, sweet revenge burns deepy within us all at one point or another, and it's time! Be Prepared!
Call of the Cursed, 88 pages - Published by CatalystComix, (cc/ @ipod)
In a world with many different segregated territories a new regime known as the Dark Syndicate has begun to wreak havoc on all looking to bring all territories under subjection. With the main protagonist Kazu leading the charge against the Dark syndicate, as his father once did, the future has hope once again but will he be able to do what his father could not?

Beautiful and dynamic panels immediately stood out to me. I can feel the shonen action oozing from this manga. Its name "Call of the Cursed" isn't quite apparent after the first three chapters, but I'm still enjoying it. I couldn't stop reading it once I started! I'm curious to see how these two boys can stand up to these dark forces. A mysterious sword and a healthy friendship, surely there's nothing these boys can't do! The call of vengeance rings loudly in this manga!
Enjoy the clean art, dynamic panels, good humor, but intense fighting with high stakes! Great work, CatalystComix.

SO ADORABLE, the spirit of a teen left with unfinished business heeds the call of a sportsman that needs just a little help. She gets deeply involved and this can probably only end one way. I'm wondering where this is going to lead, and the beautiful, soft, plush artwork is going to lead us there. It's been heartwarming with what's already uploaded, and I wonder what other ghosts we might run into. The call of regrets, love, and a desire to matter ring out clearly in this webcomic.
That's all for now, but we'll have another set of Fresh Friday reading recommendations next week. You can also browse through our Featured Comics news section!
