I'm new to GlobalComix and have some questions
I joined Global Comix a few months ago with plans to show people my comics without paying for a membership. But I have some questions about a few things.
> I'm glad you can read some comics for free, but I want to make money from my comics. My question is: How can your comics make money by just viewership? It seems like the only way is to make comics have paid access.
> I don't have the best equipment to make comics. I have pencils, fine-tip Sharpie pens, colored pencils, and a lot of 8.5" by 11" paper. I don't have a working scanner, so I'll have to use my phone to photograph my comic pages. Would that be acceptable to upload here?
what kind of phone do you use? I use my z fold 4 to draw my comics. i dont have to use traditional equipment, just my phone. Certain phones are a good way to get pages drawn if you know what to do. I don't even use my computer anymore. I think recent Iphones can use their pen and certain samsung phones use the s pen, which is what I use. You can even purchase a stylus to use on other phones besides the ones mentioned for drawing. All are pretty accurate for drawing. I suppose that you just have to work with what you got, but photographing pages sounds like it would blur some things depending on your phone quality. good luck with it all though :)
The phone I use is a Motorola G7 Plus. I don't use it for drawing comics since the screen is too small to draw on. I have a touchscreen laptop, but it will only work when its charger is plugged in. It's hard to give that laptop attention because I have a new laptop that isn't touchscreen and works a lot better. I think my phone quality is good enough to photograph pages. If I can afford to get a tablet with a stylus, I'd switch methods. But for now, I'm going to use traditional drawing and photograph pages with my phone.
Hello @Half-Gleam,
Currently, the ways to make income are to paywall your comic behind the subscription model (as you mentioned), but you can also set up donations and PDF sales if your work in page format.
While you can upload photos of your work, it would be worth the investment to get a cheap scanner. What I've done is get a 30-40$ printer at a place like walmart or an office supply store. Many of them also double as scanners and copiers! It would be a good low cost way to scan your work in a nice quality. You might need to edit the scans afterwards a little bit though.
