dividing a work into chapters

the instructions on dividing a work into chapters are somewhat confusing.

Firstly is a "release" the same thing as a chapter?

Secondly, how does one divide a work into chapters, once it has been posted? My tentpole comic, Tales of the Questor, is already uploaded, but it is a single unbroken archive some 760 pages long! Obviously I need chapter breaks. Is there some way to do this after posting, or do I have to pull it down, divide the archive up into chapters, and do each chapter as an individual "release??"

Please clarify for me.

A release is whatever amount of content you'd like to post in a given listing. So a chapter or a single page, it's up to you.

I know you can combine releases into a single release but I don't think you can go the other direction. So I guess that means that, unfortunately, you'll probably have to repost each chapter as it's own listing.

I sent this in a reply to your DM, but I'll send this here as well for visibility:

Regarding the Chapters, once a release is published, you can't divide them into smaller releases. You would need to post them as individual Chapters. Here's my suggestion for you, though, based on a look around your profile.

1. Bigger publishers like Boom!, Image, etc will sell their work as two different series. One will be Volumes, Omnis or Compendiums and then make a second series that sells the work as individual issues/chapters. This way, the reader gets the choice of which format they would like to purchase/read.

Here's an example:
Invincible Volumes: https://globalcomix.com/c/invincible
Invincible Compendiums: https://globalcomix.com/c/invincible-compendium?lang=en

Something is Killing the Children Issues: https://globalcomix.com/c/something-is-killing-the-children?lang=en
Something is Killing the Children Volumes: https://globalcomix.com/c/something-is-killing-the-children-volumes?lang=en

2. I would avoid deleting any pages you currently have if at all possible, as once you do, you lose those statistics and page reads. You also will lose access to the analytics for those pages if you look at those.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions.
