Pages won't load from a PDF - GC Forums
community
Hi there! I'm Kat from the Community Team, I'm sorry you are having trouble, let me try to answer your questions.
Re: I upload my comics in PDF format and it doesn't load the pages.
Are you not seeing any pages at all when you upload? I see you have a few comics up, were you able to get it to work? Or did only some comics have the problem? If so, can you tell me which browser, which device, and which operating system(OS) you are using?
Re: How can I upload my comic in PDF and not have to upload it in individual pages?
The reason the pages are “taken apart” is for the reader experience to function properly. Your PDF is left intact and you can download the original PDF at any time. Our reader is set up to adjust the pages viewable to the size of the screen for optimal reading experience. If a screen is wide enough to accommodate two pages, it will adjust to display both. However, for a smaller screen, like a tablet or phone, one page might be optimal, depending on if the orientation is portrait or landscape mode. If the reader would like to see two pages at a time, they can change that manually themselves at any time using the gear icon in the upper right of the screen in reading mode.
I hope this helps!
Hi @UMC - sorry for any confusion here. I am able to recreate the issue on Chrome on an iPhone, so you're not alone.
At this time we recommend you utilize desktop/laptop for utilizing the publishing tools as they're currently optimized for that set up. We'll be improving the upload for phones over time but your fastest solution is going to be working on a computer. That said, the system should be able to unzip or handle nearly any file so we'll need to look into what the issue is.
If you don't have access to a computer at this time, shoot us an email @ contact@globalcomix.com and we'll help you so you don't have to go through that same process.
Ah, I see. iOS = mobile/iPhone, MacOS = desktop/laptop, that's why I was confused 😅
That said - can you send me the zip file that wasn't properly uploading @ eric@globalcomix.com so I can test it on my end?
I just got a letter from Global about offering Black Friday discounts. I viewed the creator tips and tricks link in the email and followed the instructions for applying a discount to my comic. However, when I loaded my pages to the global website, they were not PDFs. Is there anything else I need to do when setting up pricing and wanting to sell pdfs of my comic book? I do have PDF pages of my comic book on my computer. Do I need to upload them and if so, how do I do that? Thanks.
@pkscomix - Uploading your comic as a PDF does not automatically make it for sale as a PDF, you'll still need to go into your creator settings and set it up as a PDF for sale. You can find the instructions for creating PDFs for sale here: https://globalcomix.com/news/details/457/creator-tips-and-tricks-setting-up-pdf-sales-and-bundles
Thanks for getting back to me Art. Your article was in fact the one I was reading from. I actually did not upload the pages as PDFs. Thanks to your article I did everything but the part with the bundles which I didn't completely understand how that worked but I'll take another look at it now. Thanks again.
@pkscomix AH Bundles! I misunderstood what you were struggling with. You'll need to set up all releases that you want to include in the bundle as PDFs for sale before you can add them to a bundle. So yes, you'll need to upload them before making the bundle.
@pkscomix No, you don't need to upload them as PDFs. Whatever you already uploaded is fine. I took a look at them, and they look perfectly fine. : )
