I think this might be a way to charge up the indie traffic and capture bridge readers of official titles looking for new reads. There's marketing potential here as well for Gloabalcomix as it provides official reads lead gen into this market.
For example, if I am a reader who wants to find "look and feel-alike content" of my favorite series - then I could come to this site, and search for titles that are similar to [Inset popular series here]
Search Options:
(art/look) Style similar -
(feel) Story similar -

I see how this can be a heavy lift internally, so perhaps it can be community-contributed as well (for the official title dataset to be added to on a regular basis)
I also really like how this user rec tab allows a description area to specify HOW the series compare. I think this could give some voice on creators' sources of influence - thus bridging a network of fresh lead interests.
We have a "similar to" section we've developed for the app that sounds a lot like what you're suggesting. I can't share the specifics of how it works just yet, but it's something we should be able to port over to the website homepage too.
