If I could live in a van and road trip my life into the wilderness I'd be the happiest version of myself. I love getting out in nature, paddle boarding, and just vibing with the cosmos.

I know that subscribers get messages when a comic updates, but what if we could improve on this?

Similar to how Gumroad has an email wizard tool, it would be nice to be able to send your own emails - so that you can cross-market ongoings with your series - such as external/physical copy announcements/deals, promote social engagement, and share deeper interactive details with fans.

Features that would be nice: 
-Customized Email Coding and Launching when desired
-Include the "Similar To" section in email alerts to further promote GC interaction/discovery
-Download subscriber list 
-Sharable Genre interest lists between fantasy/webcomic/manga/action/ect creators (maybe a lotto or limited sending privilege per mo) 

Creator Value: 
-Freedom of design and customizations 
-Keeping engagement and top of mind in between chapters (can be limit capped to 1/mo to discourage spamming) 
-Cross Market to creator's needs (crowdfunding announce/physical copies/social share/ect) 

It's something I think is useful when having to handle a whole entourage of character arcs so as not to forget who they are, per se- but It's definitely interesting to hear how others organize their characters - and I'm curious about how everyone else goes about it.

Followup Q: How do go about remembering them, their motivations, etc - if you have to handle 10+ personalities?

Speaking of, can you share some insight on how you achieved a successful Kickstarter campaign?

Right off the bat - I feel like the analog youtube community would dig your content - based off the visuals. I think you could market off that if you transformed the media into video format.

In where 1 of the days of the week, indie titles are solely highlighted on the homepage. 

There are a lot of titles here and a LOT of official publishing houses taking a good chunk of real estate on the homepage - which is fine, they've earned their spots in terms of quality - but do they NEED the consistent placement like indies do? 

I suggest a weekly Indie Day homepage, where the sections are dedicated to indie titles in genres - possibly even a "Less Seen" sectional churn of works that need a bit of traffic help. 

What is it about Japanese and Eastern storytelling that stands out from Western cultural tales?

There are a handful of differences that English readers may find appealing, but today we are uncovering the spiritual side. Let's start with quizzing your vocabulary. Are you familiar with Shintoism? How about Hermetic Alchemy? Chinese Deification?

The Main Idea: All Things Are Connected in a System of Balance and Exchange.

If you've watched video essays like that of Good Blood's OCARINA OF TIME - A Masterclass In Subtext - you may have already realized this shared theme.


In Japanese storytelling, there is a more intimate connection between the main character and all things. There is a sense of romantic whimsy not as deeply captured in American media. This "lightning in a bottle" is depicting the lightning of the soul - and how it interacts with the world of soul force around it.

At least, this is my theory on what allures us to this type of narrative. Something we crave that we are starving for. To be connected.

Good Workaround - thanks for the suggestion!

Use Case: 
I have somewhat of a filler episode between chapters that isn't performing as well as I would like - I'm worried it is deterring readers from the next chapter. 

Instead of deleting it - I'd like the option to archive it from the series. So that I can review how it impacts reports, but come back to it if I want to re-publish. 

Eclipse Era of the Beast is free to read atm and also has a paperback of Book 1. 

In a land plagued by undying souls shattered into their mortal bodies, an unwilling hero must rise to meet their destined duty to restore the wavering energies of the universe. The Fallen, threatens life's very existence when the balance of all things shifts for the worse. Growth. I think hands down, your characters must grow and learn in order to make them compelling and feel real. Master Class: The Last Airbender / Fullmetal Alchemist

Personally:
Theme + Character begins as one.
Theme allows me to build a network of arcs in overall progression of theme
Character becomes "alive" and an actor of this theme that can further drive other world events
In RL - Character inspires theme use for other characters indirectly

My characters are created organically through the need to explore a troupe and built-in around the arc of main themes. It's kinda like the two (character and theme) are "born" together. Each character might be the star of the theme I want to explore - that they help shepherd and drive the expansion of such to other characters - all creating a network of themes in the overall story - with the plan to end themes on closure or commentary.

Example: Zola from the Fallen-harrowed regions of Tephonp - her overall theme is tenacity in healing (even though there is an overarching arc of healing for all characters, she is the harbinger of this lighthouse trajectory. Her inner journey arc is the catalyst to other healing arcs and in RL - her situations inspired what I wanted to explore in how other main characters healed. (her theme also lets me explore the journey we share - losing a sibling - so it was an organic personal need that blossomed her as a themed character)

Example 2: Kato -a High Fallen of the Keikosan empire. His theme is Dark Enlightenment. He has seen the infinite All of the universe and has concluded the nihilistic futility of existence. He shepherds and supports this theme for Neidah (another existential Fallen) and even Liannah (our Hero) in terms of grappling with what it is to be alive - and if that truly means and is worth anything.

Example 3: Hannah Desonai - theme: the oppression of oneself for the pursuit of duty. Purpose is an overarching theme in Eclipse. It is a driving force of "Destiny" that Liannah (the procured soul of higher deities) is forced to reckon with regarding the task that has been allocated to her. Such brings the equation of Free Will and Purpose into a philosophical study. Hannah, who willfully embraces the cold pursuit of duty, handles her worldview and relationships as such. Her ripples affect Liannah (as her sister) and too the consequences of action that surround their shared fates.
