Music & Comics

Music & Comics

I’m guessing I’m not the only one who has music playing while working on a comic.

Sometimes it’s just background noise to keep the momentum going. Other times, one song can completely shape the mood of a scene or even spark a new idea.

I’m curious—if you’re a creator, what 3 tracks best capture the atmosphere of your comic?

Here are mine for Catatonic Wander :

* “The One That Keeps Me Down” – 1000mods

* “Hubris” – Modesty Blase, Processor & Samtar
* “Everything’s Cool” – Pop Will Eat Itself

I’d love to discover some new music, and maybe it’ll introduce us all to some new comics along the way.

If anyone’s interested, I also put together a Spotify playlist that inspired parts of my project:

Hey there! If I am able to, I'll have to try out some of the tracks on your end. I am familiar with PWEI, and some artists in your Spotify (like Gary Numan, 16volt, A Perfect Circle).

I believe you asked about some of the music I listened to, associated with my series "Tales of the Celestial Sea." Post-metal music really inspired me for both, but moreso in particular with "Black Knife." I can't remember if the same was the case for "The Forgotten Isle" was less inspired through music listening, and moreso inspired by the surreal painter Mariusz Lewandowski (which, Black Knife was as well, on top of the music).

But paintings and music are huge inspirations for me. Now, for that series (in particular, The Black Knife), I would say these are the top three tracks I listened to (all post-metal music):

Amenra - "De Evenmens"
Cult of Luna - "Blood Upon Stone."
Amenra - "A Solitary Reign."

I listened to both of those bands in general a lot for Black Knife.

And for The Wretched, I mean... Take your pick of Nine Inch Nails (NIN) songs. lol
But I go for other bands, too, depending on my mood with the story.

The best song that captures the atmosphere of that comic would be "Somewhat Damaged" by NIN.
After that, maybe "Ruiner" by Made Out of Babies, and "Falling Away from Me" by Korn (though, I don't listen to that too often while writing, but it fits).

Thanks for the share JacksAxe I was really curious especially for “Tales of the celestial sea” as the music fit nice, but the color 😊 and you mention of the artist Mariusz Lewandowski make sense, happy to have learned his name 👍

Cool stuff my man

Thanks! And I'm with you on music as well, it serves as such a great vehicle for ideas and to be immersed within creative moods while writing.
Sometimes I'll need silence, too, but music helps with so much, otherwise. ^___^

I have the three tracks you listed written down, so I'll give them a listen when able. :)
