Can't Create a New Release

I can't get past the first step in adding a new release. On my series page, I click the 'create new release' button, type in my release title and select the release type, but when I click the orange button to create the release, nothing happens. After clicking out of this box, when I try to  reload the page, I get a popup saying 'are you sure you want to leave this page' and then in the bottom right a little popup that says 'something went wrong, please try again.' This has never happened to me before, the publishing process has always been super smooth so this caught me off guard and has been very frustrating since I need to get this published today. I've tried multiple times over the past few hours and even tried different browsers but the same exact thing happens every time.
