App stuck on logo screen – Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T550, Android 7.1.1)

Step 1) Open the GlocalComix app on Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T550, Android 7.1.1).
Step 2) Wait for the app to load past the logo screen.

Expected: App loads to the home page.
Current: App stays stuck on the logo screen indefinitely (no crash, but cannot proceed further).

Additional Info:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T550)
OS: Android 7.1.1
App: Latest version from Google Play Store (device is shown as supported in Play Store).

Notes: The app was working about two releases ago (early to mid-September), but since the more recent updates it no longer loads past the logo.
