Policy On Unofficial Comics?

What is the policy with regards to people taking established IPs and making comics? Seems to me like this would be a major legal issue if the rights holders got wind of it especially Nintendo who doesn't seem to care much for fan creations.

Typically, we don't mind creators uploading fan comics with the acknowledgement that if a cease and desist is issued, we are obligated to investigate and follow through if required.
