ROAD STEED — Issue #1
“Heavier Than Usual”
Short Synopsis
On what should be a routine pickup, Cass arrives at a quiet apartment complex in the rain, expecting nothing more than another job. But when she attempts to move the body, something immediately feels wrong—the weight isn’t natural. It’s anchored, as if something unseen is holding it in place.
As Cass pushes through and makes contact, she’s hit with a sudden, overwhelming vision—of a man falling endlessly through darkness, energy burning inside him, and something watching from beyond. When reality snaps back, that same energy transfers into her.
At first, she rejects it.
But something has already changed.
Where the body was once impossible to lift, it now feels effortless. Cass completes the job in silence, trying to maintain control while realizing the weight she felt wasn’t physical—it was something else entirely.
As she drives off into the night, the rain falling heavier against the windshield, a faint glow begins to pulse beneath her glove.
Because whatever she touched…
didn’t stay behind.

ROAD STEED #2 — “TWITCH”
Short Synopsis
The morning after her first strange encounter, Cass forces herself back into routine—same van, same job, same control. And for a moment, it works. The first pickup is clean. Normal. No weight. No visions. No glow.
But something isn’t gone.
It’s quieter.
During her next job, reality slips—just slightly.
A corpse moves.
Not fully. Not alive. Just… a twitch.
Cass freezes. Checks again. Nothing.
No witnesses. No confirmation.
Just her.
As the day continues, the feeling follows her—not in the bodies, but in herself. Subtle hand spasms. Micro-pulses under her skin. Something internal trying to surface without her permission.
She pulls over, trying to steady herself, trying to convince herself it’s nothing.
But deep down, she knows:
That moment wasn’t random.
It wasn’t imagination.
And whatever touched her in Issue #1…
didn’t stay with the body.
It followed her.

• Cass moves from confusion → doubt and quiet fear
The change isn’t visible yet.

ROAD STEED #3 — “SHIFT”
Short Synopsis
Road Steed starts realizing the strange energy following her isn’t fear—it’s responsibility.
Cass tries to keep life normal, sticking to routine and convincing herself the strange incidents with the dead are isolated moments. But when bodies begin moving again—subtle at first, then undeniably—normal stops being an option.
At work, her coworker Leviticus notices something is off, but not enough to understand it. Cass keeps it quiet, handling the fear alone while trying to stay professional.
During a solo transport, the impossible becomes unavoidable: the body in her van shifts on its own.
This time, she can’t explain it away.
When the corpse begins pressing upward beneath the sheet, Cass is forced to act. Instinct takes over. She places her hand down—and something inside her pushes back harder.
For the first time, her power responds with intention.
Not destruction.
Control.
She suppresses it. Stops it. Holds it down.
By the end of the issue, Cass understands the truth:
this isn’t random,
this isn’t imagination,
and whatever followed her from that first pickup…
is now hers to manage.

🚐 ROAD STEED — Issue #4: “ROADSIDE”
Short Synopsis
Cass crosses a line she never planned to.
On a routine night drive, Cass passes a roadside crash—choosing, at first, to keep going. That’s her rule: she moves the dead, not the living. But something deeper—something tied to her growing power—stops her.
She turns back.
At the wreck, Cass uses her ability on a living person for the first time, bending metal and stabilizing the injured driver with a calm, controlled force she doesn’t fully understand yet. It’s not panic. It’s not instinct.
It’s choice.
By the end of the night, nothing about her role feels the same. Her power isn’t just reacting anymore—it’s applying. And her identity shifts with it.
Cass isn’t just transporting bodies anymore…
she’s deciding who gets to keep breathing.

Road Steed Volume 1 issue 5
ROAD STEED #5 — “DOUBLE LOAD”
Short Synopsis
Road Steed struggles to maintain the line between routine work and the growing supernatural force inside her after responding to both a body transport and a roadside emergency on the same night.
While transporting the deceased through heavy rain, Cass passes a burning building and initially refuses to stop, reminding herself that saving lives isn’t her responsibility. But something inside her pushes back. Turning the van around, she enters the fire in full hero form and rescues an elderly woman, discovering her abilities now protect the living as naturally as they handle the dead.
But the rescue comes with consequences.
As Cass continues driving, the corpse in the back of the van begins speaking to her.
For the first time, the dead don’t just twitch or move—they communicate.
Forced to confront the terrifying evolution of her powers, Cass uses her growing energy to calm and suppress the spirit-like disturbance, realizing her abilities are no longer limited to physical strength or control.
She’s becoming something tied directly to transition itself:
life, death… and whatever exists between them.
The issue shifts the series from supernatural mystery into spiritual responsibility, establishing that Road Steed is no longer just carrying bodies—she’s carrying unfinished echoes.

🚐👻 ROAD STEED — Issue #6: “UNFINISHED”
Short Synopsis
Road Steed enters the supernatural world for real when she encounters her first hostile spirit.
While handling a pickup at an abandoned house, Cass senses something deeply wrong about the scene. The moment she touches the body, violent flashes of the victim’s final moments hit her—and a voice whispers a single word:
“Unfinished.”
What follows is unlike anything she has faced before.
A spirit tears itself free from the corpse and attacks her directly, revealing that not all dead souls are willing to move on. Forced into her first true supernatural fight, Cass discovers her abilities are evolving beyond simple control over bodies and energy.
She can suppress.
Restrain.
Hold spirits in place.
But she can’t force peace.
As the battle escalates through the ruined house, Cass realizes the spirit isn’t evil—it’s trapped, terrified, and clinging to unresolved pain. Instead of destroying it, she stabilizes it long enough for it to finally fade.
By the end of the issue, Cass understands the terrifying truth:
her powers aren’t a condition anymore.
They’re a connection to an entire hidden world of unfinished souls.
And now that world knows she exists.
