About
I make traditional comics primarily with colored pencils and pens. I am currently only doing this as a hobby, so page updates on Rewrite History will be one page every other Saturday. Tumblr - https://www.tumblr.com/blog/theunknowntako

Re: May 2025 - Introduce Your Comic and You
Hi everybody, my name's Tako!
I am the writer and artist behind Rewrite History: https://globalcomix.com/c/rewrite-history/chapters/en/1/
It's a comic made traditionally with colored pencil, pen, and marker, and it's all about magic, mystery, and queer love/themes!
I've been making comics since I learned how to draw, but I only started posting them online a couple years ago. I found Global Comix by frantically searching google for comic-hosting sites because my comics weren't getting much attention on Tumblr and I wanted somewhere a bit more professional and comic-focused to host them.

Re: Do you have certain shows or games you go to for advice or inspiration?
It's kinda hard to decide because I get inspired by a lot of stuff, but for shows I think I draw a lot of story inspiration from Gravity Falls, Duck Tales (2017), and The Owl House.
Re: What are you working on?
Currently working on the second chapter of Rewrite History, my time-travel urban fantasy comic. The first chapter is already fully out, you can read it here: https://globalcomix.com/c/rewrite-history/chapters/en/1/
Re: Question of the Week - Favorite Genre in Storytelling and Why?
I gotta say my favorite genre is Urban Fantasy. Anything where a typical, bland setting is made a little more fantastical is right up my alley. Sci-Fi is a close second; although, I'd say the only difference between sci-fi and fantasy is the sound effects lol.
Re: What drew you into making/wanting to make comics?
I've been drawing since I could hold a pen and I constantly have ideas for new stories, so I feel like making comics was just a natural progression of those ideas. Marvel movies were a pretty big influence on my writing, most of my first comics were either superhero or superhero adjacent. I make a lot more sci-fi and urban fantasy stuff now.
Re: What are you working on?
Currently working on finishing the first chapter of Rewrite History, along with concept art for a bunch of my other comic/story ideas. If you're interested in a good ol' time travel mystery, I'd recommend checking it out!

Re: Introduce Your Comic and You! (Old Thread)
My name is The Unknown Tako, both here and on Tumblr. I found Global Comic because I wanted my stuff to be available on an actual comic site in case people wanted to just see my comics without any of the other art stuff I post.
My comic is Rewrite History, and you can read it here: https://globalcomix.com/c/rewrite-history?lang_id=en or on Tumblr, if you want a version with Image Descriptions
Vanessa's ordinary life as a part time fast food worker gets flipped on its head when she meets Dr. Annabel, a mysterious stranger who warns her that her family is afflicted with a mysterious generational curse.
It's an urban fantasy mystery made traditionally in colored pencil and pen, with elements of time travel, LGBTQ+ themes, and slight amounts of horror. I'm still in the middle of making Chapter One as of writing this, but trust me, these elements will become more prevalent later on.

Re: What do you struggle with the most about backgrounds and environments?
I think one of my biggest struggles with backgrounds is trying to make them not look boring and empty. One trick I've started using is hiding jokes and easter eggs in the backgrounds. One page of Rewrite History has a store that references name of a song title, and another has a character that becomes plot relevant later hidden in one of the wide shots. Little things like that help make it feel like I'm not just failing to draw cubes in perspective with every background.
Re: What do you like to do outside making comics?
I like to draw things other than my comic as well as write, read, and play video games. I also like watching YouTube and listening to music, but since I usually do those while working on my comic I don't know whether or not to count it as a separate activity.
Re: Do you maintain a schedule for creation of your comic? Do you use a buffer?
I have a schedule, but it's lax enough that I have spare time for homework and other projects. I used to have a buffer, but it was only one page ahead, so when I had to take a break from working on the comic for a bit the buffer got used up. I'm thinking of building up more of a buffer next time, but I currently don't have the time for that.
