re: What do you struggle with the most about backgrounds and environments?

I struggle with adding enough detail and mainly lighting. My art style for my comic Room For Four has a style where I try to render it more realistic. If that makes sense. So getting lighting to look good in the background, especially when it’s blurry, is hard.

re: Do you have certain shows or games you go to for advice or inspiration?

I mentioned a while back I tend to look towards Hollow Knight and Kirby for world building. But over the past 2 years I’ve been looking at Powerpuff Girls for a TON of inspiration. Mainly for the action sequences and teeth kicking violence.

No, it’s not meant for scrolling. It’s made to be pages. I only do two big panels since it allows me to cram more detail in and also allows me to get them out and made quickly. Spacing wise, I do agree. The black lines are mainly there as a result of my process for making the backgrounds. I will definitely keep your input in mind!...
