Re: May 2025 - Introduce Your Comic and You
Hey hey,
My names Caleb, slightly better known by my pen name Softsful. I've been writing comics and webcomics for ages (the earliest record I have for a webcomic is 2004, but I do know I had earlier). My current webcomic is called Surprising Octeal and is actually a reboot. The reboot started in 2023 while the original was introduced on June 7th of 2018 (I now consider June 7th to be the M.C.'s birthday).

Surprising Octeal, a superhero comic about Suzanne Incirrina, a woman who was on track to become a marine biologist when she developed the power of octopus arms coming out of her back! Now, spurred on by a mystery surrounding super humans going mad, she'll be catapulted into the drama, danger, and politics of the super-human world.

Re: Failed to post comment on Creator Page
That okay. I was using Opera GX on Windows 10. I tried responding to this but still couldn't post, so now I'm trying it again on Google Chrome.

Failed to post comment on Creator Page
Been trying to post an update on my creator page but when I do it fails to post. I was half afraid I'd end up with multiple of the same post but I finally saw a tiny "Failed" icon will pop up in the corner when I tried to. Not sure why it isn't working.

Re: Do you have certain shows or games you go to for advice or inspiration?
Dark Souls was sort of a source of inspiration for my current comic, though maybe not in the most obvious ways. It's not that the comic is a gothic medieval fantasy or that my character's deal with tremendous difficulties (I mean they do eventually but that's only part of the story)... it was that a lot of the plot isn't spoon-fed to the readers. I give my readers a lot of trust to figure some things out...

OOO! This makes me think of something. Something I always love to point out to my fellow writers is the website TVTropes! It's a site that has exhaustive lists of literary tropes for shows, movies, videogames, and other media. Honestly, I would advise anyone who writes... well anything to use that site! Looking up comics or videogames that inspired my stories to see what types of literary devices are used in it is a big help. Plus, if your so inclined, your allowed to make a TVTropes page for your own story too! I have one for my webcomic. It's not necessarily the biggest advertising venue or anything but I like that I can look up the tropes I used in my comic as a well to understand my own writing!
