Crow's Feet Aspirations
A while back I plotted out how many pages from the original run of Octeal were covered by each episode of the reboot, and I figured the 200ish pages I originally uploaded ended up being around 10 episodes. This episode, Episode 4, Canal Town... covers the most pages by a mile. The next biggest are Episodes 7 and 9, which cover about 24 pages each. Episode 4 covers 36 pages... anyway, I figure I'm about %80 done with Episode 4.... ONLY %80. Heheh.
I actually spent a chunk of time a few days ago updating Casey's reference file to bring his iron form up to date. I kinda kept...
This is the longest sequence in the episode... or... maybe it is? I guess this could be considered two sequences even though it's...
Suzanne and Lina's dynamic is kind of playfully snarky. They simultaneously have very similar personalities but also extremely...
I originally wrote Lina to be a pretty bog-standard "Valley Girl". She was very... boringly written. I pretty quickly realized I...
"-I envy the egotistical and proud"
Funny, I realize that this story-bead actually relies on people being familiar with the "electric jellyfish" trope. In fact, for...
I designed Suzanne's gills to look like sewing pins. Over time, however, I began to worry they looked like... a certain part of a...
I'll be editing some of these panels when the full episode comes out... somehow, I drew an very good version of forward-facing...
In the original run I realized the apartment building had a layout that was physically impossible purely because of a stairwell...
I need a break from outdoor backgrounds... what's next?... oh... indoor backgrounds!... great...
... Heheh, I wonder if any of the folks who read the original run feel a little twinge of fear seeing Song again~
Really tried to get this release out by today as I'm about to head out to a family reunion for a week and a half. Gonna bring a...
Crow's Feet Aspirations
This recent temp update is the last one before the comic moves over to York, the main setting of the first arc of Octeal... I am genuinely dreading background art in the eponymous Canal Town. 'Specially those underwater shots... Ich, now that I think of it, the next temp update is almost exclusively shots of York...
Incidentally, when I say "First Arc", I'm referring to "Surprising" Octeal. Each Arc has a different prefix, with Surprising being the first. There are four in total.
Most of the changes I've made for the reboot have been tiny. Mostly just line changes. One thing that has surprised me is just...
Something of a literary trick, you can use a character's curiosity to hint at things you want your audience to pay attention to.
Kim is a pretty socially open character... which makes her a great foil for the much more guarded and internal Suzanne.
Spoilers! They ALL got baggage~
Sometimes extroverts drive me nuts. They can be some of the worst people in the world.
That one extrovert who pops in to mellow...
Suzanne is... panicky. It's funny cus' she's not that bad at socializing when she's calm but it all goes to hell pretty quick...
The day after she's attacked, Phin chooses to inform Suzanne about why what happened, happened. With what she hears, Suzanne...
Suzanne is recovering from her transformation and receives a visit from Phin Fridman, come to explain what will start happening...
A young woman named Suzanne is given an offer of a lifetime... which almost immediately gets derailed.

Love the atmosphere, colour contrast and body language/expressions. Looks like a movie, which I assume might have been the goal. :)
I enjoyed how ridiculous it was.
Softsful
Yep! Well, I write the comic with binge readers in mind and that does make it flow like a movie. Not too fast, not too slow.
That DOES comes with the caveat that I can only produce the comic so fast but eventually it will be a very binge-able comic.
An announcement for a change with the comic.
