Re: mystery / thriller comics recommendation!
Two of them.

Ivanhoe is a Crime staring a former soldier turned gun for hire. the series inspired by Jamaican crime stories and Blaxploitation cinema. Drawn by the amazing Mexican artist Sam Purata

The City of Shadows is a magical realist slice of life (there are/will be romantic elements) series following the lives of young people in the fictional Brazilian city of Machado. Drawn by the amazing Brazilian artist Guma

Re: What are your favourite story themes to explore in your work?
A range of things. My usual go to themes though would probably typical existentialist stuff like coming to grips with your place in the universe or making the best of a bad situation. The other one would be dealing with prejudice and imbalances of social power.

Re: What is your storytelling approach?
a mix of Screenplay and prose. I tend to style my scripts after Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and Neil Gaiman.

Re: What drew you into making/wanting to make comics?
I always loved comics and animation as a kid and wanted to write stories for those mediums. While i also want to write prose and for live-action film/tv, comics are a first love. In terms of what drew me to the medium?... I liked the lack of limitations.

The City of Shadows first chapter out. Looking for feedback
Hi

My name's Daniel. I just published the first chapter in a collaboration i am doing with the Brazilian artist Guma. It's an urban fantasy slice of life/Magical Realist series that is inspired by Graffiti and Jamaican music. I wanted to know what people thought of the writing and art.

Here is some info about the book:

Title: The City of Shadows
Genre: Supernatural, Cyberpunk, Slice of life, Fantasy

Comic description:
Cities are places full of life. Millions of people living together with their stories, myths, triumphs, and tragedies forming the soul of an urban expanse. The City of Shadows is no different. A Collaboration between Jamaican-Canadian writer Daniel G. Wilson and Brazilian Artist Guma. This series aims to offer a glimpse into the often ignored sides of urban life.
