There are many weapons available to warriors, but sometimes these weapons have a life of their own! Today's Fresh Friday Features contains tales of legendary or peculiar weapons, from glass swords to bizarre blades and axes with a drinking problem. Like any tool, it's up to the wielder to maximize its potential. Do these characters have what it takes?

One stunning and incredible story. From the unique world with strange beasts, a people seeking a solution to a strange problem, swords made from glass! These are no ordinary glass swords though, they can turn what they touch to glass as well, so be wary! I loved this title, another amazing series from Humanoids that I'll be grabbing physicals of.

Hilariously bizzare blades with punchlines as sharp as a lawyer's wit. What I really love is even if some of these swords are far out and something I would never have been able to come up with, they all have some form of logic that makes them entirely believable! It's funny and outrageous and extremely creative. As someone who love reading stories about campaigns, I wish I could find a DM with this level of creativity.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! When you're left alone in a violent world, there's not many you can trust. I love the manga feel of these pages, if that's intentional. It's a beautifully drawn graphic novel with dynamic scenes, but not overburdened by detail. Somewhat loose and rougher work, but it aligns perfectly with the vibe of the story overall. Also, seeing a woman protagonist, and many leaders that are women and feel balanced as a character is so nice. Well done!
Barbaric (Verticals), 254 pages - Published by Vault Comics, (cc/ @VaultComics)
Owen the Barbarian has been cursed to do good with what remains of his life. His bloodthirsty weapon, Axe, has become his moral compass with a drinking problem. Together they wander the realm, foredoomed to help any who seek assistance. But there is one thing Owen hates more than a life with rules: Witches. Welcome to the skull-cracking, blood-splattering, mayhem-loving comic brave enough to ask: How can a man sworn to do good do so much violence? Hah! F***ing with you. It’s just BARBARIC.

Dripping with sarcasm, biting humor, and a strangely morbid curiosity to keep reading, I have been meaning to give more of my time to Barbaric than I have so far. Upon seeing some of the amazing video demos for it by Azure Flame, I decided to dig more into it, and I'm very glad I did. It's got violence and literally biting humor, but it's not offputtingly so. It's a nice balance of sour and sweet. I think readers of Berserk, Saga, Hellboy, and Invincible would enjoy this title.
