Do you think god stays in heaven for he too lives in fear of what he's created? Well in this week's Fresh Friday Features, that theme will come up more times than you can shake a stick. Even if you're not a Spy Kids 2 fan, you will find yourself enjoying these tense, surprisingly fun and very expertly drawn comics. Of course any thoughts on these comics or suggestions of comics for us to feature next should go in the comments. I'd love to learn what's on your mind as well!
This week, @Nen picked for this week:
- Comic - GHOST MACHINE: A sample of the books to come from a new imprint over at Image Comics! This book features a collection of intros to multiple new comics, along with some character bios and story synopses that always help me get into a new series of comics. Everything from Sci-Fi/Action comic Geiger to seeming Fantasy comic Hornsby & Halo are worth at least a quick glance.
- Graphic Novel - Daemon X Core: Roland and Isabeau tackle monsters (Hazards) while dealing with their difficult personal lives. Roland as he has to tackle a life-altering change and Isabeau with her past.
- Manga - Dead Company: Ryosuke, a jobless young man with no skills, is hired as a team member for a world class game development studio called EDC. His lack of skills are hardly an issue with a past as dark and interesting as his.
- Webcomic - HELLRACE: Girl who is wayyy too excited to be sold off to a demon meets demon girl. Teamup of the century ensues.

A brand new sample comic book from the peeps over at Image, it acts as a jumping off point for several of their comics and was a great way to learn about each of their new upcoming series. I was very excited about Geiger with its strong Sci-Fi elements, along with Rocketfellers because I love me a good comic about familial bonds and the tensions big changes bring to them. I suggest you check it out and see if you find a new fave from the Ghastly Guys over at Ghost Machine

This might be a weird comment to start off with but I love the fonts in this comic. It's just got an aesthetic that is strong. It's this combination of "WTF is that thing" and a kind of baroque, formal feel that makes the horror in here more ethereal than anything else. This comic's sense of design is strong and I enjoyed every second of it.
Dead Company, 532 pages - Published by TOKYOPOP, (cc/ @Tokyopop)
A death game where players are forced to kill one another until there's only one person left standing! This is the story of Ryosuke Miyauchi, a young man who survived a real-life battle royale game three years ago, and who has been struggling to live a normal life since then. One day, Ryosuke was scouted by the enormously popular game developer EDC, who asked him, "Why don't you use your special experience to make a game?"\n\nYoshiki Tonogai is a Japanese manga author known for his dark, psy...

This is such a classic Manga, a crazy plot about a person who won the darkest victory royale in history. I loved this almost nostalgic pull back to earlier manga I read as a kid. The main character Ryosuke was interesting but the set design, action and tension really pulled it all together for me. A++
HELLRACE, 109 pages - Published by Nyxe, (cc/ @Nyxe)
Three young women team up to take down a crime family

This comic is continuing to get its footing and I love how it's chosen to start off. I hope to learn more about our MCs and I'll be really glad to see more from Nyxe as well!
That's everything for now folks, but we'll have another set of Fresh Friday Features next week. Till then leave us comments of comics you think we should have a look at or your thoughts on the ones in this article. See ya!
