Setting prices...?

I'm having trouble understanding this system. I have an 8-issue limited series. I set the PDF download price at 2.99 per issue/release/chapter.  Instead of a 10-page preview, I want to make the first release free, and charge for each of the other 7. I chose "Custom first release free and 0 last releases." I guess it works, it seems to be free to read but costs 2.99 to download.

I am now preparing the second release, and on the editing page every page says "free." I don't want to give away the whole series, I'm trying to monetize it. How does this work?

Hello, so there are two different monetization methods that are having some crossed wires here.

"Custom first release free and 0 last releases." applies only to the GlobalComix Gold subscription readers.
Setting a PDF only applies for those who want to download a release/issue/chapter.

"I guess it works, it seems to be free to read but costs 2.99 to download." At the moment, this is incorrect. If you open your release in a private tab to simulate a reader without a subscription (and isn't you, the creator), you'll see that it asks readers to subscribe on the very first page. Your "Default Access Model" setting is marked to "Paid" and your "Custom Preview Settings " are set to "0 releases are free". So currently, all readers need a GlobalComix Gold sub to read anything.

"I want to make the first release free, and charge for each of the other 7." - In order to do this, my recommendation is to change your Monetization settings to "Custom first x" and then "First 1 Release" in the little drop-down menu below it.

This way, your first release will be free, and readers will still be able to download the PDF if they want to. The selling a PDF setting is completely independent of the paywall settings.

Thank you, ArtCrumbs! I swear if I ever find that page with the monetization settings on it again, I will apply the settings you have recommended. This site is a maze.

I would like to know, now that there's someone to ask, how and at what rate the creator (me) gets paid when someone paying a monthly fee for access to everything reads one of my comics? Is it some convoluted algorithm, is that why it never gets mentioned? Or is it just too embarrassingly small?

Thank you for your help!

Oh, one more question: At one point, as I was wandering the maze, there was a page called "Authorization", and it had an option to change one's password. But I haven't found a page on which to enter a password, so I have none, and the Authorization page had no other links. I've lost it again, but what I really need is some way to, I guess, sign in...?

Is it alright if I email you? I'd rather not send those kinds of links or talk about your password details publicly for your own security.

Absolutely! Please, I've been groping around for days trying to find the pages I need. Thanks again for taking the time!

Another fun thing happened... As I was stumbling around the website trying to figure out how to sign in, I found a page where you sign up to pay $7.99 per month to read the site's comics. I thought maybe if I started there, I would be allowed to login as a creator, so I signed up, and agreed to pay the $7.99. The next time I ran across this page in my search, I discovered I'd been assigned the login name of HasteningPilot. Either that, or I had bought a subscription for some guy named HasteningPilot. But I just saw a page called "subscriptions" and it said I had the "free" plan, so maybe I didn't subscribe HasteningPilot to anything after all. Who knows? Sure could use some guidance here.

Okay, I watched a video on Youtube and learned how to find the monetization settings. I made the changes ArtCrumbs suggested. Maybe I'll be able to figure out how the rest of it works on my own. Thanks again for your help!
