Can't delete my account?

I wanted to delete this account and make a new one, but nowhere do I see this option in the Account Settings. The FAQ and Terms of Use make no mention of deactivating/deleting your account.

This isn't a good user experience, and feels a little dishonest. I have no interest in making another account now, I just want to delete this one. If there's no way to do that, I am going to abandon this account and this website.
