How to collaborate if your arts not good?

I'm more of a writer than artist and I tried but I can't find a collaborator to work with 😢 can someone help?

If you are more of a writer than an artist and looking for an artist, it can take some time to find someone to collaborate with. I have some questions here, and maybe we can figure out some ideas together:

1. Do you know what sort of story you want to make? Having an idea ahead of time can be really helpful, though you might be able to find an artist to also be a co-writer. But not all artists want to write, so knowing what sort of partner you are looking for will really help!

2. Is it a long story or a short one? You are more likely to get people to work with you on shorter stories than longer ones, especially if you aren't able to pay them. A shorter story is easier to do between projects, since artists usually have more than one at a time.

3. If you aren't paying someone (you didn't clarify, but collab usually means no money is exchanged), then that will also make it harder to find someone for the same reason as #2. Our time is precious and a lot of artists have a day job or commissions or freelance work to do, so that has to come first. A free project is usually a lower priority.

A lot of writer/artist pairs work together and collab though, so there is someone out there for you! We have a page here for creators to look for other creatives to work with. You can find those people here https://globalcomix.com/talent/projects/for-hire/?project_reward_type_id%5B%5D=1

Additionally, there are a lot of reddit communities you can look into to find partners as well! There are so many comic, webcomic, and collab/partnering based subreddits that it definitely is worth looking into. I think if you can identify what sort of story you want, keep it relatively short, then you'll have a lot better chance.

If you already have those things, then it's a matter of time and patience until you find the right person! Keep writing and creating more stories, and eventually you'll find the perfect partner!

@mpsychic-witch how long have you been drawing / being active on social media? I'm sort of curious.

mpsychic-witch posted May 3, 2023

I just got back into it but people don't like my art style

mpsychic-witch posted May 3, 2023

I don't like my art but I can't afford an artist so I try to draw on my own but I fail at it.

@mpsychic-witch Drawing takes time, like all skills. It's taken me about 14 years to get where I am as a creator (my series here is called Godsbane https://globalcomix.com/c/godsbane-?lang=en ). Maybe spending some time focusing on your skills and making things you enjoy right now would be best. If that's writing, study different story-creating methods, like the Hero's Journey and Kishoutenketsu. Make smaller, shorter stories, and your skills will get better over time. Getting better at art and telling stories is a marathon, not a race.

No one likes my art because they say its not bad but I don't know why they don't like it but mines bad in my eyes as I can't get reads

ArtCrumbs admin posted May 10, 2023

Not getting reads doesn't neccesarily mean your art is bad. It could be that your marketing and self promotion strategy isn't working and you should try something else. Where are you sharing links to your series?

Also. It takes time to build a following. The one I have took me about 13 years and I started when I was 18. I'll be 32 in June. So this is a long term journey. You shouldn't feel pressure to succeed and get big results right away. It very rarely happens.

I wanted to ask for support in my comics as I was hoping to earn money even $1-$3 monthly from people would be a start
