Newbie To This Site - Fan Fiction Series with a Long History

Hi, I just joined this site because of a suggestion from an FB webcomics group. My work already has two other homes but in either of those ... it's almost invisible. I'm hoping maybe here things might be different.

My fan fiction series has been running steadily into six years now and it has 40 full stories in it and counting. However presenting all of those stories here seems to have a problem I'm sure experienced users know how to overcome. How can I if possible present .PDFs for viewing? Some of the stories are in prose format.

As for what my series is in a nutshell. Try to picture an amalgamed idea of if you took a few shows from DiC Animation - took G rated content and upped it to PG-13 at the max - made everything serious and complex - and made the whole thing very continuity driven.

I'm not sure what to add here without tooting my horn too much. I have no idea if anyone here would be interested in reading my work. The series only has one reader else where and it's remained that way for years.

How do you feel about your experience on GC so far? I see you weren't kidding with how much work you have done! It's amazing how many pages you have! xnx Impressive!

Disappointing, the Discord channel talked down to me the only time I poked my head in it. I'm really tired of people assuming because my work isn't popular and I'm unknown, I must be a newbie to this kind of work.

No one knows when I update my comic because of how the site is designed. Single added pages don't count for an update. You'd think I haven't updated my comic since Oct. by the way the site views it.

Despite me trying my best to present order an of presentation, due to some form of design flaw. People until staff changed this, people thought the 11th story was actually the 1st. Which is funny sad in it's self since I numbered most of the stories for reading order.

I don't think anyone reads it here. Eight years and running with regular updates & no missed deadlines. It has one reader on a competing site.
____________

Thanks for the complement. ... If you are reading my work, thank you. I only know if people are reading by feedback left on the work.

Hi systemcat,

I'm sorry to hear about the way you were treated in Discord. That is certainly not the kind of community we're looking to build.

You are right that there currently isn't a way to notify followers when pages are added to an existing release. Recently we added the ability to merge releases, so what I would recommend for the time being is to upload new pages as separate releases and then after a short time, merge them into the larger release. This will allow followers to be notified of new uploads, and the notification will point them directly to the new release.

It does look like some of the releases have reads, but it looks like it's not consistent from release to release -- that could have been the nature of most of them being uploaded on September 26th. When it comes to promotion, I can certainly assist with that. Would you like me to share the current story, or bring in readers at earlier releases?

From the first paragraph, that is a good thought but I fear doing that. The reason being is I have completely lost confidence in a reader's ability to understand reading order even if it's laid out in the most simple way possible. Changing things around I imagine would only make for more confusion on their part.

There was a time when I thought actual release dates attached to the stories was helpful on the Wikia or Fandom page but that concept has proven useless.

Once someone who is staff here mentioned my work on Reddit but the attempt to draw a little attention to my work there fell flat. If you could help further that would be great. I've even gone so far as to make video based ads. for my work ... and again only failure has resulted from that. But I'll add here in truth one of those ads. was a 3D animated trailer for the longest of the prose based stories from the series.

I've noticed there is an off the bat unwillingness people have to give this series a chance. That one reader I have, she was following my work prior to the series invention. That's why I think she got into following it. But the rest of the world it boils down to these reasons why it's avoided:

. Mixed fandoms in an alternate universe fan fiction. I've seen many young and I mean early side teenagers. I've seen them tackle that a lot with usually poorly-conceived results. Due to these fictions having a dominant presence to that field of writing. People stereotype what they think I'm writing.

. The writing doesn't fall into wanted assumed expectations. Meaning I've noticed readers wanting something very much based with canon cartoon, canon movie, or ...:

- Ultra dark gritty
- Talenny
- Twisted NSFW & fetish

For your offer I appreciate the thought. ... How is this for a summary of Loaded Stone?

"From a rocky start with minimal reward robbed into possession. The trio of former M.A.D. agents now having formed their own criminal gang, have made their way to Japan to meet with Amazon Annie's friend but also his boss who runs the organization, O.K.O.T.T.E. . Will they be able to prove they're just as awful overseas as they are in the states? At the same time Icarus Finch has regained being able to take to the skies which is not cool with Alan. Furthering that note Finch's crime spree is also rubbing Zack and Finn the wrong way. These agents working for H.A.P.P.Y. are determined to halt Finch in his tracks although it will just be a long trip to do it. As for on the home front in Metro City, the problems H.A.P.P.Y.'s below ground local headquarters is facing are complex and crippling. Good thing Jake Anatech is a welcome face now to that group, or else him and Inspector Gadget wouldn't be able to handle the Olmecs trying to launch an invasion."

As for the earlier releases, it's just highly suggested they be read. I've heard it said my work is very much continuity driven and that's a correct nutshell assessment to it.

Thought I'd wait a while before replying with this but ... yeah, this is what I've come to expect. No one but a single reader else where, cares it exists.
