Episode 1
My Identity
Have you ever had an identity crisis? My first summer traveling and teaching was one of my most prominent moments in which who I was made little to no sense to me. Luckily, I made friends with Altman as he and I taught for two weeks. At the end of our two weeks, we decided to cut a rug and party. Perhaps I partied too hard.
Episode 2
The Soup
What's better than soup? Okay, probably anything, if you don't crave soup. But I like soup well enough.
As a kid, my sister and I would be permitted to eat a meal or two a week in front of the TV, as long as it was downstair and together. We were hooked on Disney programs like So Weird, and we took advantage of the TV time. On one fateful day, however, my soupy desires got the best of me.
Episode 3
Corn Cob Man
Do you have that friend who seems to be so relentlessly following his or her own path that you're sure they've gotta be an alien, or living a double life? I know it has to be true with this dude. I'll never forget the impact he had on me as I sat at a job that I appreciated, but knew I had to move on from. He dropped in once or twice and made me feel as though I could crash through ceilings too.
Episode 4
The Flat Tire
Last summer, in the blistering July heat, I traveled to my first artist residency in Gregory, SD. That's basically nowhere. To make things better, I had a trunk full of brand new Champions Comics. Suddenly, a flat tire stole my evening. As soon as help came, well, you know.
Episode 5
Re-Laxatives
I've gone through a great deal of dieting. And I'll be transparent, it wrecked my metabolism as well as other bodily functions. Sometimes I need a little help... working it out. And some of those early days, I got more help than I needed. What could be more embarrassing at work?
Episode 6
Going Cruisin
You may not believe it, but at one point gas in the US was under $2. My pal Jory and I would spend countless hours driving around town. It's a staple of Midwest living, ya know. I can't believe how far we'd drive on such little cash!
What've you bought with change beneath the seat?
(Also, I started inking with a better brush :D)
Episode 7
Bugged Out
I've recently announced the launch of my next comic book, Champions Issue 2. Today's comic holds personal symbolism, but also fits the feeling of being swarmed by those asking for the next issue. Now, I'm excited to announce that the issue hits shelves on Friday, September 15th! What swarms all over you?
Episode 8
Beer & Pizza
Minutes after knowing your identity, you'll likely identify your needs. I needed pizza. NEEDED PIZZA. The celebratory craze was not met. Rather, I was taken care of by one of the best friends a rabbit monster could ask for. What do you need when you've had one too many?
Episode 9
Down, Down, Down
This was one of the character tests I had done when working out my alter ego as a bunny monster. I hope you enjoy it. Next week I'll be starting something rhythmic with this series. It won't be an ongoing arc, rather an ongoing theme. I can't wait for you to see it!
Oh! And have an awesome Labor Day! How do you plan to spend the holiday?
Episode 10
Bitter Sweet Saga
This comic was inspired by a series I ran on Patreon called the Good Fight. It's time I finally revisit those roots. Life can be hard, and our struggles are unique. But we're all in this together. So let' not give up together. How do you fight the good fight?
Episode 11
The Bitter Sweet Egg
Have you ever just worked tirelessly on something, only for it to explode in your face? If you can think back to the fantastical world of 2009, I had just that happen. After a successful project creating three foot tall aliens, I went onto another alien project. However, this giant egg sac blew to smithereens. 30 pounds of gelatin. 20 hours welding. Ruined. On the hard wood floor.
Episode 12
Oh Sweet Våffeldagen
I must have been missing waffles lately. Because one of the best days of the year is Våffeldagen (March 25th). I discovered this Swedish holiday a few years ago. And I fondly remember it happening exactly this way when Mike and I devoted our meals to waffles. Waffles with various syrups. Waffles with whipped cream and spices. Waffles with apples and bacon. What other sweet food deserves its day?
Episode 13
Beverly on the Bitter Sweet Road
Lately, I've been on the road. My fiancée and I have been touring Iowa, looking for a wedding venue. To top it off, I'm delivering brand new issues of my print series, Champions, to more stores. But I didn't want to leave you high and dry, the way my car might. Boy do I have trouble with that old clunker. What joys can a car really bring?
Episode 14
Sweet, Sweet Strangers
I guess I'm missing the fun of having a stranger text me. But let's face it, I think it's a blast to chat with the randos who text me on accident. It's always a fun chain of oddities before they ultimately break-up with me forever. How else are you supposed to act when you get a random text?
Episode 15
Ode to the Bitter Sweet Road
Ever since debuting a comic, I've been one avid road dweller. Suitcases, hotel rooms, school classrooms, event centers, and signing. It's exactly what I signed up for. It's a lifestyle that affords me to work on my storytelling goals, for sure. But it doesn't come without it's difficulties. Hey! We all have our struggles. What makes your career challenging?
