The great Shaman, Itzabé, returns to land of Mezo in hopes of stopping the Talekuhl conquest. He's brought with him a young protege named Zea and the two of them make friends with twin warriors on their quest for the World Tree. Meanwhile, Roden's decisive actions in battle have earned him a promotion to Palatzin in the Tzalekuhl army.
Kyma awakes to discover she is a captive of the Tzalekuhl empire. Roden reveals to her their reason for seeking revengs and what her father did when they arrived as refugees. Meanwhile, Itzabé and his friends discover the World Tree thanks to the help of the large tree creatures known as the Arbath'a.
Kyma is rescued, but it comes at a cost. Several of the Huax'kin warriors are killed by Phegor and the Tzalekuhl army, and Roden finds himself a new captive to sacrifice to their god. At the World Tree, Itzabé and his friends speak to the Great Mother, who reveals that the Shaman is not the only surviving member of the Zen'tili. There is another... who serves the Tzalekuhl.
Emperor Vuh presents his sacrfice to the gods while Roden watches on with his family. With the help of Ne'nezi, they are able to extract the location of the Huax'kin so they can hunt them down and finish the job. Meanwhile, Kyma has led her tribe to the Kan'kin in hopes of convincing them to unite against a common enemy.
The day of the solar eclipse approaches as the Tzalekuhl Empire pushes its way across the land of Mezo, determined to conquer all other tribes in the name of their god. With her father dead and her people driven from their homes, Kyma reunites with her estranged mother, Mzira, and forms an alliance with the mighty Huax’kin warriors.
Using the battle as a distraction, Itza’be and Zea set out toward the now unguarded Tzalekuhl Palace. They seek the remaining pieces of the Celestial Seed, knowing they must reunite them all before the solar eclipse. Meanwhile, Uhna and Balaque head to Cobán Rock hoping they’re not too late to prevent a massacre.
All-out war erupts as Kyma leads the attack against the invading Tzalekuhl army. But will her thirst for revenge interfere with her mother’s well-planned strategy for victory? The odds swing in their favor when the hero twins arrive, and they’ve brought along the mighty creatures known as the Arbath’a to lend a hand.
