The city is drowning in neon and rain as John Wick realizes he is being tracked not by ordinary hitmen, but by the soldiers of the Ink Ritual—fanatics clad in skeletal ballistic masks and occult-marked armor.
Cornered in a dead-end alleyway, Wick is ambushed. The assassins reveal they do not answer to the High Table, but to "Old Laws." In a brutal display of violence, Wick dismantles the squad, leaving only the leader alive for interrogation.
As the rain washes away the blood, the dying soldier reveals a terrifying truth: they aren't hunting the Baba Yaga. They are hunting Parallax—the name John carried before he became the legend. The soldier reveals himself to be a survivor of John's "Impossible Task," the legendary night of slaughter that allowed John to retire years ago.
With his last breath, the soldier hands John a Burnt Marker—a blood oath pact fused shut by fire—proving that someone survived the night John was supposed to kill everyone. The issue ends with Wick realizing that while he tried to bury his past, hell has spat it back out.
