Griot Enterprises is a vanguard of entertainment… You better recognize!
Yes, it's been a minute. But, so much has been happening these past couple of months into Griot Enterprises' 25th anniversary.
First, Griot Enterprises own Jiba Molei Anderson was a participant of the 2024 BIPOC POP comic book conference at the University of Texas at Austin. A good time was had by all at this intersection of comics and academia, race, gender, and culture.
Here's a little anecdote on the conference from the man himself:
"During BIPOC POP 2024, a young lady came to my table. As I was telling her about the books, I could tell that she was getting emotional. I stepped out from my table to offer her a hug. Through her tears, she told me that she was biracial, her father being African American. She said that she always felt out of place, not knowing where she belonged. She was an artist and that her father was her biggest cheerleader on her artistic journey. In seeing my work, she said that she saw herself and was so happy to see people who looked like her represented in comics.
