that’s really strong of Darcy to still want to do something to make them proud even if they tell him they won’t. maybe it will change to him wanting to make himself proud
Laylabelle97
god that is sad for sandy to fall apart like this
lennonade1964
im sad sandy got lost in the drink. Darcy isnt responsible for how others act.
lennonade1964
That was really cool to see the months go by and then get closer and closer. Oh no! He thanked her? That is really awkward. Oh man there is some serious emotional damage. Damn I know he doesn't feel the same way she does but that is crazy that he said that he thought that they were just having fun. It is already bad, the situation they are in, but oof the having fun comment must have really hurt Sandy. Although she didn't have the right to slap him. Just because there is emotional trauma, doesn't mean she can lay her hands on him. That went really bad. I feel bad for both of them, I feel like they both lost in this situation.
Laylabelle97
I don’t blame her for her reaction. it would feel like a massive waste of time
lennonade1964
It's going to be so cool for them to go to Italy. I think it would be a great opportunity for them to catch a break from everything that's going on because obviously it's very stressful for both of them. Monroe's dad seems to kind of be hung up on the wrong things. He's waiting for the age thing, which I guess I can understand, but also had no reaction besides a simple question for Dave almost killing his daughter. He almost didn't even seem bothered by the fact that Monroe could have possibly been killed by Dave's supposed “accident”. It really shows where his priorities are or lack thereof. How could he honestly like Dave enough or be okay with Dave enough to allow for the possible murder of his daughter and to be hung up about somebody that has made a positive impact on Monroe for the first time in her life?
lennonade1964
Oh dang it's a big night for Darcy. A first formal date is very scary, especially since it's his first ever. It's a good idea that they are doing an activity for a first date. It can be very fun and have direction, it'll be a good bonding activity. He lied? Oh man that could bring up some complications later if it comes up again. I wonder if it hurts to basically lie about having the life you really wanted. I can imagine it was kind of awkward for him. Oh dang the end escalated fast. Dang they went for it in the end. I hope this doesn't bite Darcy later.
Laylabelle97
oh he’s just going through the motions
lennonade1964
I think it would be an excellent idea for her to get a restraining order from him. It's crazy that it took until now for her to be really afraid of him. I just don't understand how she can think it is an accident. He said it was an accident, but like who believes that for real. It is true that he lost control of his emotions but his reaction to that loss of control was to push her in the road so even though he lost control of his emotions he did still cautiously push her in the road which is not an accident. And I just hate the fact that Monroe is still traumatized enough by Dave to still believe that that was an accident even though it clearly wasn't.
lennonade1964
Ha! I knew it was going over his head! It's nice they are getting along. A cooking class does sound like a good date idea, even better that it's a cooking class in Italy. Things have really been looking up for Darcy and I'm glad to see him doing so well. With a life like that it must be much easier for him to avoid relapsing. To think that if George's parents did something similar for him, he could be doing well like Darcy. I don't understand how they aren't as worried about their image with George, he is still doing that crap and Darcy isn't. To hate your child is some nasty work. I wish the worst for them haha.
Laylabelle97
maybe I should take a cooking class to meet people
lennonade1964
George could very easily just have a very nice life with his sister if he was to clean up and trying to actually right his wrongs. but instead when he is met with the truth he tries to defend himself instead of actually fixing the root of the issue. irrelevy shows a lack of remorse for what he did. he killed his parents in a reckless drunk driving accident and still refers to it as an accident instead of being sober-minded and expressing that he basically murdered them. Valerie goes on to have this big speech about being there for Darcy and in the end George still reaffirms that the drugs and the alcohol are more important than anything else in his life. he wants to have a nice life but he also doesn't want to give up the thing that's preventing him from having that nice life.
lennonade1964
I wonder what other things you going through Dave's mind right now since that's the first time anybody has ever stood up to him. Darcy is very tall too so I imagine that it instilled a lot of fear in Dave that he is being towered over by a very angry dude. For a moment there his disillusion had been broken for a moment by the sobering reality that somebody might beat the crap out of him. it also really shows how little he thinks of Monroe. Monroe has stood up to him in the past and he just kind of shrugged it off, but when a man stands up to him, he gets really scared.
Laylabelle97
Sandra’s cute I like her freckles
Laylabelle97
is it just me or with the blue hair and the green dress does Sandra look a bit like an older Rika Furude from Higurashi
lennonade1964
I'm so sick and tired of people whether real or in a story saying that they're drunkenness was an excuse for their accident so they're sloppiness. really I don't understand how anybody could feel like that would be a justification for their actions. Dave is a very stupid person. Dave's delusion makes me physically sick to my stomach it's almost like a radioactive energy comes off of his character. the intrusive thoughts really pop in my head every time I see his character on screen he doesn't elicit any confidence that I wouldn't commit a crime if I saw him in real life.
lennonade1964
honestly I know Darcy doesn't want to leave but this sabbatical in another country it's probably going to do him a lot of good because it'll finally give him a chance to avoid his parents and the destructive influence of his brother long enough to get his ducks in a row. I know it's a terrible thing to have to leave home even if it's a very terrible place to live you know because that's all you're familiar with but honestly this could be a real make or break moment for Darcy's character. I also want to point out that Darcy, George and Val's parents, for all the things they are, will that be abusive and neglectful and rude and judgmental and all those things, are also on top of all things cowards. and I mean that they experience and show true cowardice and I mean that sincerely when I say this because of the very fact that they probably forced to Darcy to frame it as him needing a break instead of them deciding to send him on sabbatical which if you ask me if they truly believed in their own system if they truly believe they were right if they truly believe that what they're doing was either better for their image or justifiable then they should have been able to swallow the hard pill of explaining to George and Val that it was their decision but instead they chose a cowardice of hiding behind their son and making him not only leave but make him the scapegoat too much of his brothers frustration and anger.
Laylabelle97
Val is the only one who isn’t cold to him. that’s so sad and that must hurt to be sent away
lennonade1964
Valerie really underestimates how awful their parents could be by keeping her in the dark for 30 years. I'm a little surprised you wouldn't even think that they would do that given the fact that they only ever seem to care about their image. even though I took him 51 years at least Darcy can know now that he doesn't have to be perfect to be loved by anybody but it really is the truth that Valerie carried the old ways of her parents with her so I can imagine he could never feel truly safe to explain himself or discuss anything of practically any value with Valerie. I feel sorry for the fact that he had to go through that, they all did. but Darcy given from the new comic at least seems to have gotten it the worst than anybody. there's so many things that Valerie wants to know but at the same time since she was carrying the old ways there was no true way for her to even have opened up or have Dorothy open up to her because she was just a spitting image of her parents collectively
lennonade1964
dude for real? George just doesn't get it. he almost died. how did that not scare George? he almost gave to bury him. that would definitely be a wake up call for me .
Laylabelle97
that would explain why Darcy gets sober, he’s been given a second chance and he wants to do things differently cus that scared the hell out of him. but it’s sad to have the one person who stands up for him be going down the path of self destruction he desperately wants to avoid
lennonade1964
I love to see Hannah get her shit together and get out of there. I love to see Dave in pain. he deserves constant pain and loneliness for the things he's done to the women in his life. I don't even know what he meant when he asked Hannah what she was going to do without him. like how weak was that threat. it meant nothing. yeah he's a trust fund kid but Hannah pays for everything. if anything, she's more capable and in the position to move than he will ever be.
Laylabelle97
it’s nice to see Georgie standing up to his parents for their treatment of his brother and their hypocrisy, even if the broken clock is right twice a day and sadly it will lead to Georgie’s death
Laylabelle97
@Laylabelle97: not defending Darcy, doing drugs really hard like Darcy
lennonade1964
I can imagine that was scary for both of them. for Monroe to see how far Dave has pushed Hannah. for Hannah to not only see how far she went for Dave but to break from the gaslighting and realize how much you've been used.
lennonade1964
im glad they were able to reconcile and return to the status quo of being a good couple. I very much dislike Monroe's dad. it was a good idea that Darcy and Monroe are staying at Darcy's for a while. with the door being unlocked like it usually is, Dave really could be inside waiting for her. it is scary to thing he could be rummaging through her stuff or messing with her food or something awful and dangerous.
Laylabelle97
don’t lie on your back that’s how you die
Laylabelle97
god that would be terrifying to feel something wrong and be all by yourself
