We recently had a chance to chat with PCA BEEZY, a new creator on GlobalComix, as part of our Creator Interviews series. PCA BEEZY is the creator of the supernatural action manga Pure Hatred. Continue reading for the full interview.
GlobalComix: Welcome to Creator Appreciation Month! To start,where does the creator name PCA BEEZY come from, and how does that persona shape your approach to making comics?
PCA BEEZY: I thought it sounded cool so I stuck with it really, I used to be a rapper but I ended up being a victim to gun violence in my city. I was shot twice in my spine and paralyzed from waist down unfortunately. After almost giving up on life I found love and passion through short form story telling and reading/watching anime and manga so I started my own comic and titled it Pure Hatred.

GC: For readers discovering PURE HATRED for the first time, how would you pitch the series, and what original spark inspired you to create it?
PCA BEEZY: Simple and sweet, Betrayal at its core. THE GODS ARE FURIOUS!” What inspired me to create it? Hmm I got a big imagination bro I was sitting there like what if…. And boom the story came pouring out me I grabbed a composition notebook and started writing till my hand cramped up. But I can write with both hands so I started with my left till I couldn’t write nothing else I emptied out all my ideas and hired a artist instantly lol now we here.
Well I paid some guy to find me a artist because nobody would respond to me not being in that field. He found me a artist after I paid him to network and I paid the artist we worked day and night matching my script and all my crazy ideas and lore to what we got today. And it all started from a composition notebook in February.

GC: The title PURE HATRED is exceptionally bold and evocative. What core themes or emotions are you exploring in this story, and what does that title represent within your narrative world?
PCA BEEZY: The theme is simply hatred and betrayal but in its purest form. This is a dark grimey story where NO ONE is safe, life isn’t all glittery and pizza parties life is Pure Hatred.
GC: You shared with us that despite being paralyzed from the waist down, your drive to create remains unstoppable. How do you approach your daily artistic process, and what tools or setups help you bring your visual concepts to life?
PCA BEEZY: This a great question, well at first I gave up on life I was done with even the thought of doing anything other than lying in bed till the chickens crow. But I loved anime and manga so much I felt I should make my own and see how I do. It was the same process I used when I started rapping. Only reason I started rapping was because my fav artist took to long to drop so I made music to pass time till they dropped albums.
Well I kind of did the same with comics I felt while I wait for my fav shows to drop I’ll make my own story to pass time and once I started I couldn’t stop. People loved my first chapter and I never looked back all I wanted to do was continue creating new chapters

GC: Your dedication to your craft is a massive inspiration. What message do you hope readers and fellow indie creators take away from your journey when it comes to resilience and never giving up?
PCA BEEZY: I’m paralyzed and can still put my best foot forward so I know you guys can too. My artist Nik is amazing no matter how crazy my ideas are he can’t wait to draw them. Also shout out to collector tee, Brian casually watches anime, & Jess reacts, Senpais1lva, Myles & LJ for being the first reviewers to gravitate towards my story and believe in my vision other than my mom & younger brother who loves me to death.
Them actually liking my story gave me super powers. Them liking my story made me need to finish it and see it through. All it takes is a little support and I can go a long way.

GC: For creators out there who might be dealing with physical limitations, creative roadblocks, or self-doubt, what practical advice would you give them about starting that first page and staying the course?
PCA BEEZY: I think most creators rush the success. I came in only wanting 50-100 people to enjoy my story because putting 50 people in my living room would be equivalent to a concert in my eyes. But god blessed me to get 6k reads on my first try so I was beyond happy. To me as long 50 people love your story as much as you loved creating it is a win in my eyes.

GC: Who is the core protagonist or antagonist driving the story in PURE HATRED, and what makes their personal journey or conflict compelling for readers?
PCA BEEZY: My main character name is Chaos and he’s someone with out telling too much he doesn’t want to be a hero all he wants is his dad back and he’ll destroy the world to make it happen. Kind of like that guy from the movie Taken. All he wanted was his daughter back. I pulled inspiration from that movie. Liam Nelson the best.

GC: Without giving away major spoilers, is there a particular scene, character, or panel in PURE HATRED that you are most proud of or were most excited to draw?
PCA BEEZY: Hahahaha yea indeed it’s the reveal of chaos power system but it hasn’t been shown yet. Chapter 3-4 shows it; can’t wait for yall to see it. It’s different and hasn’t been done yet

GC: Who are some of your biggest creative influences—in comics or otherwise—that have helped shape your artistic style and storytelling?
PCA BEEZY: The authors from One Piece, Kagurabachi, Attack on Titan, and Hunter x Hunter Goosebumps & Stephen King are my biggest inspirations especially kagurabachi. The author of kagurabachi doesn’t care what anyone thinks he determines what’s cool. Often times you read Kagurabachi and it feels like you’re watching a movie and that’s amazing to me. His angles and how he captures action sequences are out of this world I would love to meet him just to tell him man you the goat.

GC: How has your experience been publishing PURE HATRED on GlobalComix, and how has the indie community supported your journey?
PCA BEEZY: It’s been fun so far. I don’t really know how the community feels about me but from the looks at least I know they’re enjoying the story so far. I don’t really care for them knowing me personally, long as they love the story I’m more than grateful.

GC: As an indie creator actively building your audience on social media and GlobalComix, how has direct interaction with your readers and supporters influenced or energized your work?
PCA BEEZY: Like I said I don’t really know. So I just keep my head down and focus on creating new chapters. Long as the number keeps growing and the analytics show they’re enjoying the story I don’t care if they know me; I’m greatful for whatever I receive.

GC: What’s next for PURE HATRED, and where can fans best connect with and support your work online?
PCA BEEZY: Right now I’m working on some animation for the comic so the supporters can see the story come to life. The guy I’m working with has done some amazing work in the fan animation space and some big projects he can’t yet name due to NDA’s and all that fancy stuff lol but what I can name of some the projects he has worked on is dragon ball Dokkan. He has worked with studio eclypse on attack on titan fan animation and on berserk fan animation and it did amazingly well. His name is Abdiel Hernandez.
