While exploring an old abandoned house, Catie finds something strange. A cursed VHS tape that traps their soul inside an old children's cartoon. Now living their life as a cartoon cat, will Catie be able to escape this strange place filled with allure and lies, or will they end up staying in this fantastical new world even if that means forfeiting both their memories and identity?

so, recap, Catie ends up in a cartoon world with many other kids. and the only way said kids remember anything, is if they remember their names. and Mother, the housekeeper and the one keeping them there, is one of two reasons they kids slowly forget their names. the other reason being sabotage among the kids. now, there is only one escape, but such is near impossible to get to without encontering Mother. now, based off the character's designs. i think Funky Monkey may be the reason for the names being scratched out BECAUSE, now hear me out; he wears these glasses all the time and refuses to take them off, and yet, he can navigate perfectly fine. but that's just a theory. a COMIC THEORY!!

Others like Keith1 recall that Monkey is "a master at hiding" and how he took the flashlights Catie and Od needed. He even had them losing the game for a while. If he WAS trying to stop them, what would he have done if Catie chose the flashlights, instead of sneaking them out?
We could make a whole criminal file against this guy! I don't care if I'm wrong, I've had too much fun accusing him.
I think it’s either Foxtrot or Missy Mouse since Missy hasn’t had much “screen time” but more of Foxtrot since there’s that famous saying “Never trust a fox” since most of the Children have what I call a Saying which is “Curiosity killed the cat” for Catie and “An elephant never forgets” for Elliot as an example, and possibly could be “A dog has its day” for Od-dog. I haven’t found a Saying for Missy Mouse so my claim for Foxtrot is staying super strong right now.

oh, I guess it’s time to explain my guess: remember, there could be a plot twist that elephant can be the traitor because he never shows up in the games and think about it in chapter 1 he took mother to the art room and mother didn’t do anything to him. shy shark because come on . and funky monkey because the things that he does is really suspicious like hurting the others eyes. or maybe all 3 of them are traitors and we are going to have a lot of chapters to cover on.
Well, we now know that none of the children remember their human versions anymore. When they sit at the table, we see all have an eyeshine, even Shy Shark and Missy Mouse, and currently, none has eyeshine anymore.
I dunno if Monkey was blind from the start, he could have originally worn the dark glasses for 'coolness'. He did draw his picture half on the table instead of the paper, but acted as if he could 'see' Elephant. He said "Oh, hi there" as if just noticing it's him when opening the door (instead of recognizing him by his voice), and asked where he was going (although he could also have guessed that when Elephant's voice moved further away).
However, since Elephant himself didn't remember Monkey's real name anymore, we can at least assume that Monkey lost his memory like everyone else and not hiding his eyeshine under said glasses.
Now, who could have scratched out the names? (let's for now forget that one person could hardly know all the different hiding places)... I guess it's really true that Mother cannot enter the children's rooms (no reason to establish such a weird lie), but I'm not sure about the nightmares. They do not enter these rooms, but that does not mean they can't (and scratching something out with claws and such strength would fit them best).
If it was truly done by one of the children, then it must be someone who for some reason did not want to 'escape', but would rather stay with the others in a fictional world instead of 'going back', even if it will cost them their own memories. We can't make guesses yet if anyone has a backstory that would justify that.
Aaaand, if they all remembered their names back then, did they all somehow realize to play along, instead of uniquely demand answers...?
Well, best next step would IMHO be to recover Od-Dogs memory by examining that sketchbook further, so he can tell Catie how to get past that Doorman without losing another life. But we will see...
I HAVE A THEORY!! (I don't know if I'll manage to predict this correctly), but somewhere along this journey, Odd-Dog will remember his name... but will he join their side?
Funk monkey is the traitor. Funky monkey was one of the accused traitors. He may remember his name. Behind his glasses, he may have the glint in his eyes. When Elliot tried to ask him his name, he forgot. Funky monkey could have lied. During the chapter 8 if I am right, during the question on what is funky monkey eye color, he could have lied too. So Funky monkey is the traitor

Há indicações (cores) e principalmente cenas suspeitas/sem coerência que podem (ou não) indicar que sejam suspeitos.

You cannot 'lie' about OTHERS forgetting your real name, Elephant clearly could not remember it anymore, which indicates that Monkey did forgot it (this is one of the premises, if you forget your name, everyone else forgets it, too).
Catie should maybe keep a list and hide it inside her yellow bow (easy & quick access), similar to the Magical Girl that kept a list of other girls she killed, from one of the "Madoka Magica" manga spinoffs...
And as I said, if it really was one of the children, there was nothing to gain except not having to return to the 'Real World' and instead staying in a fantasy world with their 'friends' / not wanting to stay 'alone' ...
So, at least this explains why Elephant didn't keep a record of all the names... he simply did not know that when someone forgets their name, everyone else forgets it too, and when he realized it was already too late...
This also most likely means that none of the children knew. But the one scratching out the names did... or it's just a logical plothole.
Trying to attack Mother (even as a group) does not sound that wise either, especially if you want to 'force' her to let them go and aren't out for a kill. Some psychological manipulation might have worked far better.

We all been talking about funky monkey but what about the other disabled one: missy mouse (at least I think that was her name but idk) I think it's pretty clear that funky monkey is blind but I have a good feeling that do to NEVER getting attention she desided to sabotage the other kids before they could escape
Look at what happens when Elliot tries to forget his own name. The rule seems to be that if you forget your own name, everyone else forgets it too. However, since Catie and Od-dog can see his name written on the back of the house, they cannot possibly forget it. This leaves only two possible outcomes, both of which break the rules of the house. Either Elliot forgets his name, but Catie and Oddog still remember it, meaning the memory wipe fails to erase him completely. Alternatively, because Catie and Od-Dog still remember it, the equation is incomplete, meaning it is impossible for Elliot to forget his name in the first place. Either way, the writing on the wall blocks the system.
I just noticed that it would need to be someone they trusted enough to tell them were they're name was hidden but it can't be Elliot so he's checked off and definitely not funky monkey cuz there's no use in telling him I think it's shy shark because she didn't want to be alone in the outside world
This actually would make sense, because Mother couldn't know were empatethic elefant, besides he already said that the kids could tattle to Mother if they found out what they were doing, i'm already betting that is either the shark or the blind monkey.

Also, it takes time to forget your name, we can See with Elliot, so i don't believe its the monkey. Don't interpret too much into all this. Rule of thumb is, when you forget your real name, everyone else forgets it too. Don't harp endlessly about small logical details as Asimov did with his Three Laws of Robotic...
Again, ALL the children lost their memory. None of them has eyeshine anymore, which is THE indicator. And Monkey, although we can't see his eyes, clearly lost his memory too, otherwise Elephant have still been able to remember his name.
If it were one of the children (which I doubt), they must have had a reason to prefer to live in a fictional world without memories, to the Real World. Which would require a sophisticated new backstory for that child.
What we should ask is, who had knowledge of all the name locations? Not even Catie told anyone where she wrote it down... so did the children really freely share this with one another?
Or is there a spy we haven't seen yet? Where does the destroyed corridor next to Catie's room lead to? Maybe that's something to examine...
Posh Pine and Shy Shark arrived together, so Shy Shark wasn't THAT alone in the Real World, and accusing her because she is 'shy and timid' is IMO a bit far-fetched.
Actually, I kinda like her especially because of those traits...

IMO that's like applying STRICT logic to a cartoon... for example, I remember discussing the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series (I'm a Sonic fan) where some fans argued that Bunnie Rabbot needed to have an enhanced steel spine to lift a heavy metal grille twice her size with her robotic arm... but the whole story was never MEANT to be evaluated in such detail. She had a roboticized arm, so she could lift it, and that's that.
And I think with "The Backwards House" it's similar... if there is a general explanation, then that's it. Small inconsistencies have to be 'overlooked' to a certain degree.
Catie and Od-Dog will probably NOT forget the name since whatever they forget is 'refreshed' by seeing it written on the wall...

Funk monkey is the traitor. Funky monkey was one of the accused traitors. He may remember his name. Behind his glasses, he may have the glint in his eyes. When Elliot tried to ask him his name, he forgot. Funky monkey could have lied. During the chapter 8 if I am right, during the question on what is funky monkey eye color, he could have lied too. So Funky monkey is the traitor

Há indicações (cores) e principalmente cenas suspeitas/sem coerência que podem (ou não) indicar que sejam suspeitos.

You cannot 'lie' about OTHERS forgetting your real name, Elephant clearly could not remember it anymore, which indicates that Monkey did forgot it (this is one of the premises, if you forget your name, everyone else forgets it, too).
Catie should maybe keep a list and hide it inside her yellow bow (easy & quick access), similar to the Magical Girl that kept a list of other girls she killed, from one of the "Madoka Magica" manga spinoffs...
And as I said, if it really was one of the children, there was nothing to gain except not having to return to the 'Real World' and instead staying in a fantasy world with their 'friends' / not wanting to stay 'alone' ...

So, at least this explains why Elephant didn't keep a record of all the names... he simply did not know that when someone forgets their name, everyone else forgets it too, and when he realized it was already too late...
This also most likely means that none of the children knew. But the one scratching out the names did... or it's just a logical plothole.
Trying to attack Mother (even as a group) does not sound that wise either, especially if you want to 'force' her to let them go and aren't out for a kill. Some psychological manipulation might have worked far better.

Look at what happens when Elliot tries to forget his own name. The rule seems to be that if you forget your own name, everyone else forgets it too. However, since Catie and Od-dog can see his name written on the back of the house, they cannot possibly forget it. This leaves only two possible outcomes, both of which break the rules of the house. Either Elliot forgets his name, but Catie and Oddog still remember it, meaning the memory wipe fails to erase him completely. Alternatively, because Catie and Od-Dog still remember it, the equation is incomplete, meaning it is impossible for Elliot to forget his name in the first place. Either way, the writing on the wall blocks the system.

But it can't be FM because EE/Elliot forgot his Name the same night he did to everyone else, so FM did remember his name and i don't believe that mother let him blind that night, then convince FM to erase the names AND that FM had enought time to find and erase the names (also, he doesn't have claws so he needed a knives or smth). Also, it takes time to forget your name, we can See with Elliot, so i don't believe its the monkey. But if irc Shy Shark said "Bad things happens to people when they are alone", and everyone was alone in they're rooms... Think about it.

Again, ALL the children lost their memory. None of them has eyeshine anymore, which is THE indicator. And Monkey, although we can't see his eyes, clearly lost his memory too, otherwise Elephant have still been able to remember his name.
If it were one of the children (which I doubt), they must have had a reason to prefer to live in a fictional world without memories, to the Real World. Which would require a sophisticated new backstory for that child.
What we should ask is, who had knowledge of all the name locations? Not even Catie told anyone where she wrote it down... so did the children really freely share this with one another?
Or is there a spy we haven't seen yet? Where does the destroyed corridor next to Catie's room lead to? Maybe that's something to examine...

IMO that's like applying STRICT logic to a cartoon... for example, I remember discussing the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series (I'm a Sonic fan) where some fans argued that Bunnie Rabbot needed to have an enhanced steel spine to lift a heavy metal grille twice her size with her robotic arm... but the whole story was never MEANT to be evaluated in such detail. She had a roboticized arm, so she could lift it, and that's that.
And I think with "The Backwards House" it's similar... if there is a general explanation, then that's it. Small inconsistencies have to be 'overlooked' to a certain degree.
Catie and Od-Dog will probably NOT forget the name since whatever they forget is 'refreshed' by seeing it written on the wall...

There is no indication yet that the house is a 'sentient entity' that can delete writing from its walls (or fix wall damage, or temove bloodstains from the floor etc.). Mother is probably the one who cleans stuff up, which is quite some task. But then again, we are in a cartoon world.
