While exploring an old abandoned house, Catie finds something strange. A cursed VHS tape that traps their soul inside an old children's cartoon. Now living their life as a cartoon cat, will Catie be able to escape this strange place filled with allure and lies, or will they end up staying in this fantastical new world even if that means forfeiting both their memories and identity?
od-dog & curious cat are going to talk in the library in the next chapter, maybe od-dog would remember and he was really important in chapters: 3, 6, and 9, so chapter 12 he's going to be important again .
1. Od-Dog was most likely too eaten by the Doorman when he first tried to enter Mother's room and then respawned, otherwise he would not have the picture with an open-mouth doorman in his sketchbook.
2. There are several inconsistencies. If Elephant really wants to sacrifice himself, the most logical thing would be to share his real name with the others first, just in case, and they should immediately write it down in case they forget when he forgets. There is more than enough paper in a library, and if they don't have a pen/ink, they could have used Od-Dog's blood.
3. Mother's actions are not really that logical. What will the other children say when they see Elephant eye-less? Also, how is Mother going to bring Elephant to bed when she can't enter any of the children's rooms? And will Elephant be 'whole' again in case he re-spawns later? And does Mother not know that 'other past events' from Real Life can restore memory, too?
4. The Nightmare in the corridor was the same one Mother killed a few chapters earlier (and VERY thoroughly). What gives? Do they re-spawn too? Theory about 'good kids' become cartoon animals and 'bad kids' turn into Nightmares?
Apart from that, IMO ripping someone's eyes out is a biiiit too much for my taste. I follow the comic because it has cute characters and a captivating mystery story, not because I expect it to turn into a splatter feature.

Elephant didn’t know that they could respawn. If he did know, it was probably by word of mouth or he died. BUT, since elephants remember well, he would remember if he did respawn. Also knowing that they have lives, after this death, he will probally have 2 lives left. HOWEVER, catie is a cat, which is rumored to have nine lifes. So the respawning could either happen only to catie, and elephant will die officially, or have the lives applied to everyone, and have elephant survive the death.

It's kinda strange that Elephant suddenly became so fearless after knowing they 'could not die', but also should have VERY CLEARLY realized that their bodies could be severely and painfully hurt. One look at Od-Dog proves it...

@Qwill-: Gosh. That presentation/ramble has truly convinced me for the point of me crying properly crocodile shaped tears, I shall now vote for Empathetic Elephant to become the President of the USA and sell him all my rights.
Although this is just a VERY WILD guess, when I mentioned Monkey taking off his glasses in a scribble drawing at the Backwards House Wiki page, and showing that he actually had eyes instead of 'holes'... in that scribble, Monkey looked kinda _surprised_. So maybe, just maybe, this showed Monkey after 're-spawning' and getting his eyes back?
Being 'whole' again after dying is also proven when Catie wakes up in her bed after getting her head bitten off and her body taking severe damage... all gone as if it never happened.
However, provoking a 're-spawn' would make the story even more gruesome... oh well.

but ngl the last theory doesnt make sense if they remember their names they will try to escape out of this place so if they told mother she might be mad and try to find out who told them to rememebr their names which was emp

Well, that's why I suggested only one child should approach Mother (e.g. Catie) and tell her she just remembered her name (note: Elephant didn't tell Catie her name,, he just suggested 'trying to remember it', so it happening 'out of the blue' also sounds possible).
Mother seems to want the 'love' of the kids, even though she literally does everything to 'keep' them, so suggesting she might talk and reveal some stuff if played right sounds logical...
... now Od and Catie will probably crawl back to any of their rooms (probably Catie's, because Elephant's room is right next to Od's), and then probably try to fix up Od for a bit.
It's possible that Mother comes back to 'clean up' and realizes that the blood trails don't match the story... and/or maybe sees that Od is hurt (or notices he is missing) during next breakfast.
Most logical thing now is probably either directly attacking the Doorman again, or try to 'fix' Elephant...
It always wondered me why Catie didn't engage more with the other children to gather information. So far, nothing has been revealed about anyone except Od-Dog. Catie never asked questions normal folks would ask, e.g. how the whole GameShow setup suddenly disappeared.

Technically, there are two possibilities: either Monkey is truly blind or he fakes it for some reason.
Depending how securely he walks around, it might suggest that he fakes it, but that might just be 'cartoon logic' again.
However, since he does not seem to be into 'escape attempts' or trying to make others remember like Elephant, it seems more likely that he is truly blind.
@Skynikfan1000: I'm guessing Catie's revival theory is correct due to Od-Dog and Elephant being present down the stairs. And judging from how mother held Elephant, It's a pretty classic but brutal way by jamming her thumbs through his eyesocket.. With the strength shown before I doubt his eyes are intact without a respawn.. if respawns even heal wounds like that

Is no one talking about 1. How Luthor is the only monster with light in his eyes. He is also the first monster that Catie encountered, and the only one we've seen mother kill. Moreover, he has an entire page dedicated to him in Od-dog's journal. 2. Funky Monkey's room in the map of the house (Episode 5) has a bookshelf. 3.Mother is unreasonably adversarial to the presence of Luthor, especially when she knows that one of the kids is out of their room at the same time. It just doesn't make sense, when the idea of monsters being out at night is the norm

Personally, I think when something 'changes', the children will not remember it was different before (otherwise they would remember Monkey not always being blind, and obviously he wasn't because his room has a bookshelf according to the house map in chapter five).
However, getting Elephant to re-spawn might require some 'CUTTING-edge' measures. And there is also a slight chance that only Catie re-spawns because she is a cat with 9 lives... I guess nobody will ofer to test that out willing ly.
@Keith1: actually that's a good question because since curious cat aka Catie a cat has nine lives and elephants idk but I think he will be able to wear glasses or a bandage wrap it depends but that's a great prediction blud ;3

Although this is just a VERY WILD guess, when I mentioned Monkey taking off his glasses in a scribble drawing at the Backwards House Wiki page, and showing that he actually had eyes instead of 'holes'... in that scribble, Monkey looked kinda _surprised_. So maybe, just maybe, this showed Monkey after 're-spawning' and getting his eyes back?
Being 'whole' again after dying is also proven when Catie wakes up in her bed after getting her head bitten off and her body taking severe damage... all gone as if it never happened.
However, provoking a 're-spawn' would make the story even more gruesome... oh well.

I also kinda wonder why no one ever tried to 'manipulate' Mother... even though she goes as far as physically hurting the children to 'keep' them with her, she also does seem to genuinely 'love' them (in a weird kind of way).
So why has no one yet tried stuff like approaching her and saying, "Mother, I just remembered my real name. I still love you and want to stay with you, but I must know the truth." ... I guess she would indeed have talked then instead of acting hostile.

Well, that's why I suggested only one child should approach Mother (e.g. Catie) and tell her she just remembered her name (note: Elephant didn't tell Catie her name,, he just suggested 'trying to remember it', so it happening 'out of the blue' also sounds possible).
Mother seems to want the 'love' of the kids, even though she literally does everything to 'keep' them, so suggesting she might talk and reveal some stuff if played right sounds logical...

... now Od and Catie will probably crawl back to any of their rooms (probably Catie's, because Elephant's room is right next to Od's), and then probably try to fix up Od for a bit.
It's possible that Mother comes back to 'clean up' and realizes that the blood trails don't match the story... and/or maybe sees that Od is hurt (or notices he is missing) during next breakfast.
Most logical thing now is probably either directly attacking the Doorman again, or try to 'fix' Elephant...

Technically, there are two possibilities: either Monkey is truly blind or he fakes it for some reason.
Depending how securely he walks around, it might suggest that he fakes it, but that might just be 'cartoon logic' again.
However, since he does not seem to be into 'escape attempts' or trying to make others remember like Elephant, it seems more likely that he is truly blind.

And judging from how mother held Elephant, It's a pretty classic but brutal way by jamming her thumbs through his eyesocket.. With the strength shown before I doubt his eyes are intact without a respawn.. if respawns even heal wounds like that

Is no one talking about 1. How Luthor is the only monster with light in his eyes. He is also the first monster that Catie encountered, and the only one we've seen mother kill. Moreover, he has an entire page dedicated to him in Od-dog's journal. 2. Funky Monkey's room in the map of the house (Episode 5) has a bookshelf. 3.Mother is unreasonably adversarial to the presence of Luthor, especially when she knows that one of the kids is out of their room at the same time. It just doesn't make sense, when the idea of monsters being out at night is the norm

I'm only making guesses like everyone else (although I think mine are a bit more logic-oriented).:)
Personally, I think when something 'changes', the children will not remember it was different before (otherwise they would remember Monkey not always being blind, and obviously he wasn't because his room has a bookshelf according to the house map in chapter five).
However, getting Elephant to re-spawn might require some 'CUTTING-edge' measures. And there is also a slight chance that only Catie re-spawns because she is a cat with 9 lives... I guess nobody will ofer to test that out willing ly.
