Tales of the Earthbound
Graphic Novel - Adventure
Ensemble superhero epic.
A cosmic quake opens up seemingly random dimensional portals across the Earth, and some of the unintended visitors popping through them add to the existing ultrahuman and dissident crisis. The Institute of Unorthodox Sciences dispatches a USMC officer to either bring the potential threats under government control, or terminate them.
Easier said than done. Not all of them are easily recruited, and some prove impossible to kill.
The Turboknight came through a portal from the Korean War. His culture shock and notions of chivalry render him improperly aligned in the Current Year's developing civil conflict. Which side will he decide to fight on?
After the Juggernaut interferes with a government-sanctioned riot, police and the Armed forces commit the worst possible blunder against somebody of his temperament and Threat Quotient: they piss him off. His resulting rampage rips a trail of mayhem and carnage across America with force of an atomic hurricane.
The Phantom Raider is a home-grown urban guerrilla, backed by a secret team of cyberspies. He routinely infiltrates secure facilities, leaks sensitive information, and hijacks the surveillance network for his own purposes. His identity is secret; his tracks are covered; and his techno-mischief is a major thorn in the side of those tasked with narrative control.
These and other ultrahumans coalesce into two opposing super teams, headed for a showdown in a small nation's impending civil conflict.
