When maintenance technician Eli Morrow discovers a hidden corridor beneath an abandoned office building, he accidentally enters the Back Rooms—a vast labyrinth of impossible worlds hidden beneath reality.
Inside, time stands still. Endless yellow hallways stretch beyond sight. Forgotten places exist where no place should be. Entire levels connect through impossible doors, leading to flooded poolrooms, infinite hotels, industrial machine-cities, and stranger realms waiting in the dark.
Lost and unable to find a way home, Eli encounters Sophie Vale, a mysterious girl who seems to remember events before they happen, and Mr. Static, a smiling entity that watches from television screens scattered throughout the maze.
As Eli journeys deeper into the Back Rooms, he discovers that the endless corridors are only the beginning. Ancient forces move between the levels, forgotten people leave warnings behind, and a structure known as the Blackout Tower appears again and again at the center of impossible drawings, broken memories, and terrifying visions.
The deeper they travel, the more one truth becomes clear:
The Back Rooms are not abandoned.
