ملخص الفصل الأول: نداء اليقظة
في مدينة تعج بالأضواء، يختبئ خطر لا يراه أحد؛ "طفيليات الأحلام" التي تتغذى على ذكريات البشر وتحول نومهم إلى جحيم سرمدي. وسط هذا الظلام، يظهر "كاي"، شاب غامض يمتلك القدرة على التسلل إلى عالم الأحلام وتطهيره باستخدام خنجره الكريستالي.
يبدأ الفصل بمهمة إنقاذ سريعة لطفل بريء، لكن سرعان ما يتلقى كاي بلاغاً عن حالة طارئة من "الفئة أ": رسام مشهور حوصر داخل أحلامه وفقدت لوحاته ألوانها. يغوص كاي في عقل الرسام ليجد نفسه في مواجهة "وحش الحبر"، وهو كيان لا يكتفي بالهجوم الجسدي، بل يشن حرباً نفسية تشكك كاي في هويته ووجوده ذاته.
