HARVEST SEASON is a grounded action-thriller comic series set during California’s illegal cannabis boom of the late 1980s. Hidden deep within the redwood mountains of Northern California, a small crew struggles to protect a multimillion-dollar grow operation from threats on every side. DEA helicopter raids circle overhead. Wildfires threaten to erase entire seasons of work in a single afternoon. Armed thieves roam the back roads. And as powerful cartels begin expanding into the region, the mountains become a battlefield where survival often depends on who sees danger first. At the center of the story is Jack Mercer, a former Vietnam helicopter mechanic who serves as the farm’s security chief. Alongside master grower Eddie Cruz, former EMT Sarah Mercer, and the increasingly suspicious young trimmer Tommy Voss, Jack must navigate a world where trust is scarce and mistakes are fatal. What begins as a story about protecting a hidden farm slowly evolves into a larger conflict over territory, money, loyalty, and survival. Rival growers disappear. Entire operations are wiped out. Cartel convoys move through forgotten logging roads. And every season brings new enemies.

A short comic I created to raise awareness about war and violence and its affect on children. I wanted to draw attention to how so many children across the world are having their innocence and childhoods taken away from them. And how their fear is being manipulated into hate and violence by those in power.

When Prince burst onto the music scene in 1978, he put Minneapolis on the map. Consequently, many up and coming acts followed the trail that he blazed. This is the story of Starchild, a group that almost made it to stardom in 1983, led by a young woman whose desire to change the world through her music ignited a revolution. Through Starchild’s journey, MPLS Sound chronicles, from a distance, the rise of a musical genius, and the rebirth of a city.
