A pack of child vampires decides to leave town before they are connected to local killings. They bury their coffins upon a hill until they feel that it will be safe to return to them. They row a boat out upon frigid water, intending to occupy island caves, but one drops something overboard, and the kids lose their balance and fall into the water, where they enter a torpid state. When spring comes around and the water warms up, the vampires stir and rise up during the night. They attempt to make it back to their coffins on the hill, but they discover the townspeople have paved it over with concrete in order to set up a playground devoted to their memory. As their shovels fail to penetrate the concrete, they are burned to ash as the sun rises.

A crooked hockey player is discovered by his coach, who demands his resignation. The player pretends to agree but puts a bomb on the team's airplane, killing all aboard. He joins a new team, and the night before a big game he gets a phone call for midnight practice. He gets out on the ice, only to be confronted by skeletons. They kill him and prop up his skeleton in front of the goal.

When he enters the projection booth to confront them, the film strangles him. It turns out the lawyer did not have time to substitute the film after all, and both he and the wife were in the audience.

A stranger from out of town gets on the wrong train to go to a business meeting and is told that he must wait until the following day for another train. He sees workmen setting up a $50,000 lottery booth in the center of town and asks the ticket seller if he can buy a ticket.

A man in a card game murders another player who catches him cheating, as he wants to win enough money to buy his own ship. A father buys his little girl a doll that resembles her cruel stepmother. After the father accidentally steps on the doll and the woman's head momentarily feels like it's being crushed, she puts it down to coincidence.

She murders him with a pair of garden shears, dismembers his body, and buries the pieces outside in a newly redone vegetable garden.
