The viking warrior Aydis crosses hellfire to reach the Valkyrie Brynhild, only to discover that was the easy part. Actually setting Brynhild free from Odin's curse is a whole other story. Meanwhile her talking horse Saga confronts the mystical wolves who will end the world.
Things haven't quite gone as Aydis planned. She's been kidnapped by the goddess Freya. And she's trapped in the impenetrable stronghold of the Valkyries. Escape seems impossible. It's hard enough just resisting Freya's spell. Roles now reversed, Brynhild plans a rescue with help from Saga and a very old friend.
As they set out to free Aydis from the goddess Freya's grasp, Brynhild and Sigurd find trouble brewing in a rural village. Brynhild feels compelled to intervene. Meanwhile, with the help of a quiet ally, Aydis strikes a crucial blow against the enemy.
Once again Aydis finds herself alone. Now she must journey to the elusive place known as Heimdall, the living gateway to the land of the gods. To get there, she must brave the treacherous waters of the Northern Sea. But hiring a ship proves trickier than she imagined.
Having successfully hired a ship, Aydis is finally headed across the dangerous waters of the Northern Sea, but she must work hard to earn the respect of the ship’s captain Makeda and her all-woman crew. Elsewhere, Freyja senses impending danger for both Aydis and Brynhild, so she decides to intervene yet again. This time, she's going to talk to Odin.
Freyja arrives at Odin's keep to find it all but destroyed in a fit of rage perpetrated by the god king himself. She strikes up a philosophical debate, in hopes of buying Brynhild more time. Meanwhile, an ocean storm threatens Aydis and the pirate crew.
After a stormy night at sea ends in tragedy, Aydis is forced off the ship and must now face the open ocean alone. Elsewhere, Brynhild and Sigurd finally reach the Valkyrie castle, only to find it deserted of all but one belligerent goddess.
Aydis is ambushed by trolls shortly after arriving at the godlands. To her surprise, they spare her life and only take her captive. She'll have to find a way to turn them into allies, or risk failing her mission.
Imprisoned in a dungeon deep below Odin's keep, Aydis seems powerless to continue her mission. But her luck changes when she receives a visit from an old friend.
Odin's army marches toward Aydis's home village, where her friends and family prepare for battle. Meanwhile, Aydis stands before the Tree of Wurd, communing with the mystical Norns.
