The story is about a Filipino boy named Ju-paulo who was exposed at an early age in cockfighting. His father, Miguel is a champion cock fighter with a black fighting cock. In this world, cock fighting is the national sport held in large arenas and are watched by many. Ju-paolo dreams to become the world champion cock fighter. The only problem is, he received a small chick named "Kidlat", who appears to be small and weak. Ju-paolo and Kidlat will set on an adventure to become the world cock fighting champion.
