ELÉGÙN - The Rebirth of the Gods

Elégùn: The Rebirth of the Gods is a futuristic fictional superhero story inspired by the mythologies of various cultures, with a primary focus on African mythologies such as Yoruba and Egyptian, but also highlighting myths from indigenous peoples of South America, Greek mythology, and others. Using a science fiction approach, the work plays with possible future paradigms of the use of technology and artificial intelligence, as well as themes related to geopolitics, reimagining what our world would be like in the not-so-distant future. The year is 2100. We are in a futuristic setting where technology has advanced; robots, automatons, self-aware AI—all these are realities. There are also vigilantes, and for a year now, people with superpowers originating from mythological deities have been emerging. This recent phenomenon shakes the structures of society, divided between the unification of countries under the tutelage of the United States of America (New Pangea) and those led by the axis of Russia, India, and China (the Triskelion). In Brazil, its greatest vigilante, the Scarab, is missing, but there is a superpowered hero in action: Ogum, an orixá, one of the so-called Elégún (a person possessed by a divine manifestation).
